Kyoko was a fantastic host, who even met us at the door before arrival to allow us to put our bags in early! She provided lots of local recommendations, had a beautiful space, and even provided us food and other snacks! It is in a great location, 15 min from Nara Park and 5 minutes to Nara Station (if train noises keep you up, be sure to bring earplugs!) and I cannot say enough great things about this stay!

We had a fantastic stay at this Airbnb in Osaka. The unit was exceptionally clean, well-maintained, and very comfortable for our group of six. It provided everything we needed for a relaxing and enjoyable visit. The location is extremely convenient—just a short walk to the subway and surrounded by a great selection of restaurants. Universal Studios Japan was also easily accessible, only about 15–20 minutes away, which made our trip even more enjoyable. Our host was outstanding—very responsive and helpful throughout our stay. They provided clear and concise directions to the property, as well as straightforward instructions for the check-in process, which made everything smooth and hassle-free. Overall, a great experience. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Osaka.

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! The hosts are a wonderful older couple—genuine, kind, and salt-of-the-earth people who went above and beyond. They stocked the fridge, shared invaluable Kyoto sightseeing tips, and made our stay special. Their playful black Labrador is a charming bonus (never intrusive). Worth every cent—I’d recommend it to anyone! Please treat the hosts with respect. They are genuinely good folks.

Our thanks to these great hosts who were very accommodating from the first inquiry all the way to checkouut. A very friendly family who truly welcome you to their village and home. The thatched cottage was as advertised and the experience of staying out in the countryside was perfect. Not a complaint, but just stating the house is an old house with low hanging beams, which an average height persob bumped their head 5 times in 3 nights 😉. But again fully recommend Yoshiko-san's Mitoya cottage, a nice peaceful stay.

We had an excellent stay with here. Very helpful host who met us personally. The space was very roomy with good beds and a well kitted kitchen. The backyard bathtub was a very nice bonus too. Might look far from city but public transport options are excellent. Thank you!

Great stay especially with kids. There was a toy room that the kids loved playing in. Walking distance to a quiet park with a huge playground. Host was super accommodating in some of our requests too, so we were really appreciative of his gestures. Not far from dining options, but uber eats works great too in the location. Only not so great thing is the windows, when the wind blows, it rattles and might wake a light sleeper up.

We’ve been to many Airbnb’s but this has been the best one. The welcoming was amazing with information about the beautiful architecture of the house, which was as beautiful as in movies. Also very clean and we are very happy with our stay and recommend this to anyone thinking about it. Also a perfect getaway from the big cities!

The host was absolutely outstanding. The atmosphere was always friendly and welcoming. The location was perfect for me since I was attending a conference at the international conference centre (20 minute walk). The facilities were excellent for the price.

Superbe expérience de voyage et d’hospitalité chez Ichie. Nous avons passé 3 jours avec ma fille et ce fut une expérience mémorable, nous avons très bien dormi sur les tatamis et les échanges avec Ichie étaient super intéressant. Je recommande fortement !

We stayed at four airBnb‘s in Japan and all have their good points, but this was by far the best. Located in a quiet suburb so not walking distance to the main sites of Kyoto, but with some lovely sites that we would not have seen otherwise Close by. It was as simple Uber ride or train ride to get into Kyoto for main sightseeing and it was lovely to come home to a quiet un bustling local with a wide choice of excellent restaurants to choose among. The apartment itself is spacious, by far the most spacious we stayed in And it’s part of a an apartment complex which has a small gym. Nori and Fumi even served us breakfast all three days we were there in another upstairs breakfast room. To top it off, they picked this up and dropped us off at this train station three days later. All in all it was a really welcoming and comfortable place to stay, well worth the price we paid

Clean apartment with great amenities. Close access to two train lines makes getting around very easy.

Host veramente gentile, ci ha fatto trovare snack per la colazione e ci ha anche rifornito il 2° giorno, risposte rapide e consigli su cosa visitare, ottima la zona in quanto 5 minuti a piedi da metro e dotombori, consigliatissimo!

This is the perfect spot away from the hustle and bustle of Osaka. A short walk to the station will get you to all the places you need to go! A highlight for us was the delicious breakfast that Koniko made us in the morning. I 100% would stay here again 🫶🏽

Yuya was the best host you could ask for! in every area he is the best. Please be on your best behaviour while there. His house is traditional, decorated and has gone through his family for generations. The atmosphere is calm you can really relax after being in the big cities for a while. Close to Osaka, 11/10 would recommend for anyone wanting to relax and soak in the traditional and calm atmosphere of a city outside the big culture hubs.

Kuniko is a ‘Super Host’, the very best of the very best. Welcoming, friendly, always smiling and very helpful. The rooms are clean with traditional, though comfortable sleeping arrangements (actually very suitable moreso for a family with children, cuz it’s also fun). There was a fridge, a microwave, even a washing machine. The shower was great (although took me a while to figure out how to get water to come out of the shower-head - lever up vs. down - unusual). There was an abundant supply of towels and even a laundry basket to put them in), plus ample bins in which to sort your paper & plastics. Kuniko provides breakfast in her little cafe downstairs although we did not partake (except for a coffee on our last day). Note that Kuniko even stored our luggage (4 pieces) prior to check/in time. Kuniko is SO accommodating and just a lovely person (we love her black lab too). There was a stove top (tho we didn’t cook).

This place is beautiful, peaceful and close to nature. Miyuki is easy to communicate with and responsive. The place is super nice, very clean and neat. The breakfast is simple yet very very homey and delicious. We wish we stayed much longer here. Locationwise is near the Gojo city so plenty of big supermarket, restaurants, etc. Recommended to drive so can explore this area better. We live the peaceful morning walk around the house. Thank you sooo much, Miyuki! Hope will be back here again in the future.

Albeit brief, this was my favorite stay of my entire Japan trip. The hosts were incredibly friendly and always proactive in making sure we felt at home not just in our accommodation but also in Kyoto and the lovely and peaceful neighborhood the townhome resides in. They made sure to follow up every question we had and made sure we were able to travel and make our next destination smoothly. We had some stressful travel beforehand, but they were extremely flexible in made our trip much easier. Also their cute daily breakfast was delicious and every single room had so much personality. It has a shared common space and bathroom but it never felt inconvenient and also allows you to get a one of a kind experience in Kyoto. The price was also incredibly reasonable and a great value. I look forward to returning next time I’m in town!

Chiyako-san was a wonderful host. Very warm and welcoming. We felt very much at home. Her house was lovely in a pretty rural setting. There was plenty to do nearby and Chiyako-san gave good suggestions and even picked us up/dropped us off at the station. Thank you, Chiyako-san!

What a beautiful traditional Japanese home to stay We totally loved the old house, beautiful decorations, the inner courtyard and our room. Everything was perfect! Chieri is a great host, we felt very welcomed and home right away. We were on a road trip, so we also enjoyed that we could wash our clothes. And we tried out the traditional japanese bath. Perfect! Chieri, thank you for everything! Hope to see you someday again!

Staying at John’s place in Shiga was an unforgettable experience! John is an incredibly passionate and energetic host, always full of enthusiasm. He and his lovely wife, Rika, made me feel right at home. They even invited me to join their family for a delicious homemade dinner, and Rika kindly provided breakfast as well. Their son, Andre, was also very friendly, and I truly enjoyed our conversations. The house itself is a charming countryside cottage surrounded by beautiful nature, making it a perfect getaway. If you’re visiting Shiga, staying with John is an absolute must! Highly recommended!
