This place is easily the coolest rental I’ve ever stayed at. I don’t even know Chris but I felt like I was staying at a friend’s vacation home. Everything was in order, clean, welcoming and totally hospitable. Even the guitar was tuned! A perfect place for a quiet, peaceful getaway.

Cute and cozy farmhouse, well-equipped, and a perfect way to relax for a weekend. We enjoyed going for walks in the local state parks, winter activities at Tyrol Basin,and exploring Mt Horeb. Would definitely stay here again!

My husband and I planned a very impromptu trip to the driftless area with the hopes of including our adult son during our stay. Everything went amazingly smooth. Brian goes well above and beyond when it comes to hospitality. We did not lack for anything during our stay and in fact were surprised with many extras. Outdoor opportunities abound and each small town exhibits its own unique personality. Although the House on the Rock was a mind-blowing, portal traveling experience and worth every cent, Brian's house on the ridge was just as mind-blowing. The amenities, along with the beauty and peace provided the perfect setting to visit, reconnect over Scrabble (brought from home), and just hang out! Highly, highly recommend Brian's house on the ridge!

Such a beautiful stay! The wow factor when you pull up is just the start! We had the most amazing time and made so many wonderful memories staying at this beautiful historic home. From seeing fireflies in n the evening to morning coffee on the beautiful screen porch, we had the most wonderful family adventure. The third floor was setup perfectly for our twin girls in one room and our son in the other! Town of spring green close by was a family favorite and we had some amazing dinners/lunches there. 100% recommend you try this stay. Make sure to have good bug spray and you are set! Thanks so much to Sam and Bruce for sharing this wonderful place with us all!

The host was very responsive, plenty of space, beautiful backyard, hot tub working, plenty of utensils and dish ware if you’re planning to cook.

This place was amazing! A beautiful view of the river with a wonderful outdoor fire pit, 3 season room, and gorgeous setting in the family room. We hope we can rent this place next year!

Great place! Had a large group but there was plenty of room for everybody indoors and out. Used the kayaks and the lake was quiet and peaceful. Tavern in Avoca was welcoming and very good Would love to stay again

Sandy was a fabulous host! She met me at check in, gave me great local tips and was so kind in getting me settled in. She even sent me a message when the Northern Lights were visible so I could run outside and see them too. The property itself was clean and perfectly decorated. Being along the river made for beautiful views day and night. She does mention traffic noise in the listing and there was some - if you're a light sleeper, ear plugs or a sound machine might be a good idea but you do get used to it pretty quickly. Highly recommend staying at Sandy's little cabin on the river!

This is a lovely property that exceeded our expectations. It’s the kind of place you need to get away from it all and reconnect with nature. I’ve already recommended the cabin for getaways to my friends even though I want it to be my secret getaway. We will be back and for a longer stay!
