String Lake is easy access, crystal clear, and nestled right beneath the Tetons. It is perfect for paddle boarding and wading. There is a jumping rock that’s easy to get to but not too high. The water is cold- be warned ;).

Leigh Lake is one of the most beautiful places that I’ve ever been. It sits right at the base of Mt Moran, and is fairly isolated. It requires a two mile flat hike in, or you can come in from String Lake and portage your canoe over a small hill. If you have the ability to do this, I highly recommend it, as the lake provides sandy beaches and endless exploring on the lake.

This is a drive just down the road from us. You pull onto the highway and turn left, then you take your second left onto 3,000. This is one of my favorite hikes because of the variety in the terrain. You start with crossing creeks in a wooded area, then pass a small rock canyon, and head up to rocky vistas above. The hike leads you after about six miles to the Darby Wind Caves. For half of the summer there’s a pretty good waterfall coming out of them. They are good for exploring, but not too deep unless you’re an experienced caver.

Hiking
This is a hike of a lifetime. It’s here on this side of the Tetons, and gets you up close and personal! It’s a big hike, so look it up and be sure you’re up to it!
