The Shepherds Carriage is a unique structure which we built from from scratch over the course of a year. Our initial intention was to replicate the ever popular Shepherds hut, but as it grew in stature, both in height and in length, it took on its own unique look and many of our friends and family have likened it to a railway carriage or cabouse, hence its name! If you are keen to escape the hussle and bussle of daily life, and visit a very beautiful and relaxing part of the country you should consider The Shepherds Carriage @ Plaswye. Located in the picturesque village of Llyswen in the heart of the Wye Valley, the cabin is situated in the grounds of our own home and enjoys a private secluded spot next to a babbling brook with far reaching views of the Black Mountains and Wye Valley. The cabin offers a level of luxury not normally found in a glamping setting, while still retaining that all important back to basics feeling! It has its own large garden, an outdoor luxury hot tub, from where you can take in the mountain views and stars at night, a fire pit, hammock and bbq. Residents are also welcome to roam around our fields and orchard, which amount to 6 acres where our friendly goat billy lives with a small flock of black mountain sheep. Inside, the cabin couldn’t be cosier, heated by a wood burner, it has its own open plan living area with smart TV and wifi, a corner sofa that converts into a full size double bed, a well equipped kitchen with gas stove and cooker, a fridge freezer, a table which seats up to four and a bathroom with power shower and flushing toilet! Accessed via a trap door in the ceiling there is also a separate bedroom with a comfy double bed and luxurious bedding. You could experience the best nights sleep ever, we did! Be it summer or winter you are sure to come away feeling rested and revived! Guests have the opportunity to do as much or as little as they like. They can merely stay put and chill, or venture out and enjoy a host of pursuits from walking, kayaking, mountain biking, sailing and flying to a lazy day wondering around the nearby book town of Hay on Wye or market town of Brecon, nestled at the foot of Pen Y Fan, the highest mountain in southern Britain and part of the famous Brecon beacons national park. There are also some great walks direct from your doorstep, such as the Wye Valley walk and the climb, immediately behind the cabin up onto Brechfa common from where you get an amazing 360 degree view of the entire area. For keen fishermen we can also offer you access to our own private stretch of fishing on the river wye, a famous salmon fishing river and only a short walk away.

Romantic retreat, family holiday or somewhere to simply relax and de-stress!
The Shepherds Cabin is a one off structure we built from scratch over the course of a year. Initially we wanted to replicate the ever popular shepherds hut because we loved their old world charm and quirkiness, but in the end felt they were just too small. We were determined to retain that look and feel but at the same time create something spacious and self contained. Somewhere you could comfortably stay for more than just one or two nights! If you are keen to escape the hussle and bussle of daily life and have a really relaxing holiday in a beautiful part of the country you should consider The Shepherds Cabin @ Plaswye. Located in the picturesque village of Llyswen in the heart of the Wye Valley, the cabin is situated in the grounds of our own home and enjoys a private secluded spot with far reaching views of the Black Mountains and Wye Valley. The cabin offers a level of luxury not normally found in a glamping setting, while still retaining that all important back to basics feel! It has its own garden, an outdoor luxury hot tub from where you can take in the mountain views and stars at night, a fire pit, hammock and bbq. Inside, the cabin is bright and airy with amazing views from every window. Fully insulated and heated by a wood burning stove the cabin couldn’t be cosier. It has its own open plan living area with smart TV and wifi, a double bed with a single bed above, a well equipped kitchen with a gas hob and cooker, a fridge freezer, a table which seats up to four and a bathroom with power shower and flushing toilet! Our Airbnb is a beautiful two bedroom flat in a traditional stone terrace. It’s full of original features such as beams, staircases and stained glass, whilst benefitting from a tasteful modern refit. Situated on Castle Street, our flat gives you walking access to bookshops, river walks, cafes and pubs in just minutes, yet its elevated position means you’ll have a peaceful, multi-functional space if you prefer to stay in.
The flat is set across three levels. When you open the door, you’ll be greeted by a winding wooden staircase, which takes you up to the large and airy kitchen diner. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the equipment you’ll need whether you’re planning a roast dinner or quick breakfast. There’s an oven, grill, hob, microwave, toaster, and even a dishwasher should you need it. We also provide basics such as tea, coffee, salt, pepper and various condiments, which you’ll find in the cupboard above the all-important kettle. Just off the kitchen, a few steps take you up to the large bathroom, which has recently been refitted with a new suite and shower that has great heat and pressure. Next door to the bathroom is a roomy twin bedroom. Back down to the kitchen diner, and another characterful wooden staircase transports you up a level, to a good-sized living area. With armchairs and a sofa bed, the room can be transformed to a sleeping space. You’ll find French doors and a balcony, which overlook the beautiful local countryside and is ideal to catch the sunset with a bottle of wine on clear days, or greet the morning with an alfresco cuppa. The master bedroom with skylight can be accessed through the living area, via a few steps. Please note that the flat has multiple stairs (some steep), and low windows – if you have mobility issues or small children, you should consider whether this property is suitable for you.
Hay-on-Wye is a pretty market town abundant with distinctive character. It’s famous as the town of books, and for the annual Hay Festival. But it is also an excellent base for serious walking with two national trails, the Offa’s Dyke path and the Wye Valley trail passing through the town, and the protected countryside of the Brecon Beacons National Park on its doorstep. Whilst the town is a dream for book lovers as its fame suggests, it has lots more attractions besides. There are great cafes, pubs, restaurants, a craft ale bar and bottle shop as well as a deli and chip shops, so your foodie needs are more than covered. The town has lots of great independent clothes shops, vintage shops, a fair trade store and galleries, as well as practical shops for walking gear, wellies or hardware. The Globe Theatre hosts a wide variety of events from live music and cinema nights to plays and a philosophy festival. A large common and River Wye walk are situated just behind the flat, perfect if you bring your dog or just need to stretch your own legs, and you can of course access the serious walks from your Hay base. After sunset on clear days, Hay on Wye is the sort of place where you can see the stars.

With great views over the upper Wye Valley this peaceful double room offers a real break from the rat race. Hay on Wye, Builth Wells and the Brecon Beacons are all within 20 minutes. There's a good pub a mile away and breakfast is included.
Set above the Wye valley my eco friendly cottage offers peace and tranquillity. Your only neighbours are the sheep and cattle in the adjoining fields. The house is full of character with old beams and low ceilings. It's decorated in an eclectic style of old and new furniture, traditional Welsh blankets etc. I'm a keen gardener so there's a pretty cottage garden with chairs, table and parasol which guests are welcome to enjoy in the warmer months. Your bedroom has a comfortable "Bedknobs and Broomsticks Bed" and superb views over the surrounding countryside. The ceiling is quite low so if you're tall you will need to watch your head! The bathroom (shared with me) is small but simple, stylish and contemporary. There is a cosy woodburning stove in the lounge and central heating throughout the house. The water is fed from a spring and UV treated... so no nasty chemicals. There is good WiFi, 3G and Mobile Phone reception in all areas. Guests are welcome to make tea/coffee etc in the kitchen. A help yourself breakfast of tea/coffee/fruit juice, cereals, yoghurt, toast with homemade bread and jams and my own free range eggs can be taken in the conservatory or the garden in the summer months. In winter its warmer in the main house so I tend to serve it in the kitchen/lounge. Well behaved dogs are welcome although the garden is not secure and sheep could be in the adjoining fields. My own dog Gwen is quite shy initially and will probably keep a low profile but once she gets to know you she'll be your best friend. You're welcome to take her a walk if you wish, she's very easy to manage. I also have 2 cats who come and go as they please and some free range chickens who produce the delicious eggs for breakfast. There is ample parking for cars, vans etc plus a secure barn for motorcycles, bicycles, kayaks etc.
Crickadarn is a small farming community in the heart of Mid Wales. The nearest village of note is Erwood a mile away on the A470. The pub here has a really friendly, welcoming atmosphere and serves excellent meals. Everyone that goes down there comes back saying how friendly everyone is. There are also plenty of other good eating options in the area that I can recommend. Builth Wells, home to the Royal Welsh Showground with its annual Agricultural Show in July plus many other events throughout the year is 15 minutes away by car. Hay on Wye with it's quirky book, antique shops and Literary Festival is 20 minutes and Brecon and the Brecon Beacons National Park 25 minutes. There's great walking right from the door and you can get to some of the most remote and unexplored parts of upland Mid Wales in minutes. The whole of the Wye Valley, Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons offer unlimited walking, cycling, kayaking and fishing opportunities. National Cycle Network Route 8 and the Wye Valley Walk are both one mile from the cottage.

The Firs is an end of terrace cottage, it's old and warm. It not suitable for those people whom may have mobility difficulties due to steep steps and stairs. I can do a simple cold buffet breakfast, you may like to bring breakfast/ food with you and cook ( as use of cooker etc). The Firs is about 10 minute walk to the Royal Welsh show ground and about half an hour drive to Hay on Wye and 3/4 hour to Brecon. I have a very friendly cat who shares the cottage.
I can do a simple cold buffet breakfast, you you may like to bring breakfast/ food with you and cook ( as use of cooker) and prepare, it's very easy, I'll even wash up. This room has a shared bath/shower/toilet room, only if other guest, most of the time you may find its only yourself that has use of. There is a common area of sitting room to relax with television. I have a car parking area for two cars. Gareden area to sit out in and relax.
The cottage is about 5 minutes walk to the market town, of Builth Wells, places to eat and local pubs, even a fish & chip shop. 10 minutes walk to Royal Show ground, easy drive to the Spa town of Llandrindod Wells, Hay on Wye, Brecon. Lots of local walks and places to visit during your stay. The cottage is on main road, but very low traffic and really quite as the cottage is set back and higher than the road.

Set in an acre of garden our bespoke shepherd's hut sits at the top of our smallholding. We are close enough to help if needed but far enough away to feel as though you are in your own space. The hut is off grid with hot water and a gas cooking hob. A solar panel is installed for the hut lighting. The views of the sun setting over the hill opposite from the decking are truly breathtaking, perfect for evening suppers. There is fabulous walking right from the door. Peace and quiet guaranteed.
There is a two ring gas hob with pots and pans provided. There is no fridge but there is a cool box and we provide ice packs to keep it cool. There is also a small barbecue and a fire pit as well as a fire bath. Bed-linen, towels and robes are provided.
We are surrounded by farmers who work the land but the peace and quiet here is guaranteed. There are glorious views from many aspects in the garden and a short stroll up the hill will give you fantastic views of the Black Mountains.

Very quiet and convenient location on bus route halfways between Brecon city and book town Hay-on-Wye. Chaotic household (haven't managed to get on top of clutter), basic accommodation (mattress on the floor of my therapy room), shared bathroom and living room - not much privacy but comfortable enough, if you want to be out and about around Brecon.
the room is my therapy room. No door, only a bamboo blind / curtain, so cannot be locked. Thin walls (it's a Park Home, basically made from hardboard and wood). Might need the room occasionally for therapies.

  • Exactamente como se describe. Limpio, ordenado.

A cosy self-contained stone cottage in a peaceful green valley below Cefn Llwydallt. We're 1000 feet up and the views are brilliant! There's a remote, "get away from it all" feeling, but we're just 3 miles from the main A470 road, and a short drive from Hay-on-Wye, Brecon, Builth Wells, and the Brecon Beacons. Perfect for a self-catering stay, downstairs is open plan, with spacious kitchen, dining and lounge areas, and a toilet; upstairs has two bedrooms, and a bathroom with shower and toilet.
    • Recently converted from a former double garage, the Barn Annexe is spacious, smart, clean and comfortable. And deliberately uncluttered, but with all the essentials for a comfy stay. • The front door looks out onto green fields and hills, with a great view up the beautiful Sgethwin valley. Above us is the common land of Cefn Llwydallt. To the south, Hay Bluff and the rest of the Brecon Beacons are our backdrop. • It's quiet! Fall asleep to the sounds of sheep and the breeze in the trees. • There is adjacent parking for one or two cars. • Sorry, but we can’t accept dogs (we have cats, and there are sheep nearby).
    • We are just three miles from the main A470 road. Hay-on-Wye ("the town of books") is 14 miles away, and it is 9 miles to atmospheric Brecon with its Cathedral and Jazz Festival, 10 miles to Builth Wells for the Royal Welsh Agricultural Showground, 9 miles to quaint Talgarth, and 2.5 miles to the glorious River Wye (with canoeing at Glasbury, 10 miles). • This is a peaceful and beautiful place: perfect for writing, painting, or musical inspiration. And for just relaxing! • There are lots of fine walks, starting at the front door or just a short drive away. • Night-time skies are dark here. Bring your telescope! • And it's a good place for bird watchers: crossbill, pipits, wheatear, kites, buzzards...

Private trout stream running through the land with a rope swing across the (chest height) deep pools.

Hay on Wye town Hay on Wye is a picturesque border town nestled within the Brecon Beacons National Park, an area of outstanding beauty and dark night skies. Known the world over as ‘Town of Books’ with Richard Booth opening the first secondhand book shop back in 1962. The Hay Festival of Literature is held every year during May, attracting famous writers, politicians, poets, musicians and comedians that provide entertainment over 10 days. This May also sees the return of ‘How the Light Gets In Festival’ celebrating philosophy and music. Apart from the festivals Hay offers many attractions throughout the year. The town itself is a maze of narrow winding streets full of independent shops offering quirky goods often locally made or produced for the discerning shopper, Thursday is market day with a variety of traders. With coffee houses and places to eat (many accepting our furry friends), Hay is a place you could loose yourself for hours. The town also has its own 40 seater cinema showing current and classic films. Around Hay on Wye The outdoor activities around Hay are endless and as such we have a number of outdoor/activity shops and centres. Walking is the obvious choice with the ‘Offas Dyke Path’ running from Chepstow to Prestatyn passing through Hay on Wye on the way where it crosses ‘The Wye Valley Walk’ which follows the Wye Valley, the river also offers canoeing and fishing (license can be obtained locally). Road cycling and Mountain biking both popular activities with many routes from Hay or nearby. Other activities offered locally are Pony Trekking, Abseiling, Archery, and Caving. Hay on Wye also has a well stocked and extremely informative Tourist Information Bureau. The Lodge is in the town so there could be noise at times.

The Cabin overlooks our lush, wild and beautiful garden, which is part of a permaculture smallholding with bees, orchard, vegetable plots, ponds, stream, woods etc. Builth Road Station is a couple of minutes walk away. Easy to park, with nearby walks and further afield are the Brecon Beacons and the Elan Valley. Builth Wells is a short distance with most facilities you could need. The space is compact, cosy, light and airy. Good for couples and solo adventurers.
The Cabin has wonderful views, particularly the sunsets looking over the Cambrian mountains. The garden is secluded, but also part of a smallholding growing mostly fruit and veg. We are growing organically with permaculture/eco principles. We are both artists/creative people with artworks everywhere including garden/house murals. The cabin has a fitted carpet and curtains. There is a kettle and teas provided. The bed is a futon on a purpose built base and it has a comfy sofa with cushions. The blankets and a down duvet will keep you warm but an electric heater is available if needed.
We are at the end of a small village (Builth Road) in a rural community. Our land runs away from the village and down to a small secluded stream. The locals are friendly. There is a small community garden and park with a childrens play area in the village. There are secluded walks and the river Wye is 10 mins walk away. The Royal Welsh Showground is 15 mins walk away and throughout the year a variety of events take place there

This small 2 berth caravan is positioned on our farm having the most peaceful, beautiful surroundings. The place to get away from it all. To sleep, to walk, to admire the wonderful views. It has electric, shower and toilet nearby with a tap just outside.
Just throw your sleeping bags in your car and head for the hills in mid wales.
Perfect for walking, cycling, fishing and exploring the hills and the valley. Also you must visit the local market towns, such as Hay-on-Wye, known as the town of books, with its delightful shops, cafes, many art galleries, traditional pubs and eateries, plus of course the excellent summer festival. It's a lovely drive over the hill with some stunning views along the way. Hay-on-Wye has many attractions, including the wonderful 17th century Hay Castle, originally part of the Norman invasion of Wales, and a great stretch of the river Wye for kayaking. There are some cute country pubs nestled in local villages. The Hay Bluff, Brecon Beacons National Park, Cambrian mountains and Elan Valley are also worth visiting. With your days spent exploring the great outdoors, return to Edw Cottage to relax and recharge for the next adventure.
