Surrounded by wilderness and only the sounds of nature. Not even a distant sound of highway. Beautiful large fireplace and spacious for family and friends. Hosts are very welcoming and care deeply as stewards of the land.

This place is the most peaceful place I have ever stayed in. Being right on the water, within an hour of a lot of beautiful ADK hikes, and seconds away from the wonderful town of Speculator made this stay all the better. I couldn't recommend this place more. Not to mention, there are kayaks, a row boat, and a canoe, all for your use. 10/10

We had such an amazing time here. The location is incredible. We were touring around NY state and this was our favourite stop off. Jon and Brenda were really helpful and welcoming. The cabin is beautiful, clean and homely. We had loads of fun using the kayaks, listening to the birds, doing amazing walks. If we ever come back to the US, this will be top on our list of where to go!

Log Cabin: 8 guests + dogs. Place is a little outdated but all of the necessities are there. Owners are on the other side of the trees and responsive to messages and requests. Owners' dogs Chase & Chloie roam the grounds and are very friendly. House is not directly ON lake but nicely set back from other cabins, directly across from kayak entry point. There is no AC but the sun sets and rises on the sides of the buildings and ceilings are high. Days were warm but not unbearable, nights were cool. Lake nearby to drive or walk to. We took the 5-minute walk each time. Mountains/hiking right nearby. My suggestion would be to contact owners about what is/isn't included in your stay ahead of time before booking. Ask about bed linens, toilet paper, paper towels, bath towels, firewood. House was roomy and clean. Wraparound deck with great views. There are other cabins on site closer to water and closer together. We liked the privacy of this one being further away.

It’s been so difficult for us to get away for a few days lately and when a newborn in our family unexpectedly arrived almost 4 weeks early, we told Jon we couldn’t make it on the scheduled day, Jon was more than accommodating to help us and in the end, we were able to change the dates. Him and his wife were very hospitable and kind and gave us the privacy we needed. We stayed at the Cedar cabin which was right next to the lake edge. It was clean and cozy. The screened in porch and deck was perfect and secluded from other cabins. We enjoyed a couple canoe rides during our 3 night stay. This place is so relaxing and a little piece of heaven! We so much appreciated this little get away and would love to come back sometime. Thank you Jon!

You cannot go wrong staying at Covewood on Big Moose Lake. The cottages are adorably comfortable, the staff frienly and helpful and the area has more hiking, biking and paddling than you can shake a walking stick at. Highest recommendations for a classic ADK getaway.

Had a great time. Beautiful house on a lake. House was exactly as the photographs, clean, spacious and equipped with all the amenities needed for a vacation home. Will definitely look at booking again. The town of Newcomb was welcoming, everyone friendly and helpful. Beautiful scenery.

We really enjoyed our stay at Owl's Nest Retreat!. The house was charming, especially the deck where we ate most of our meals. The lake was warm and we (most of us) swam every day. It was a little tricky getting our kayaks down the stairs to the dock but manageable.

Daniel's rental is great. Wonderful scenery and very peaceful. The house was just as described, maybe actually bigger than it appeared. Daniel was very easy to deal with and gave very clear instructions. We would like to go back in the future.

It was a perfect location for snowmobiling, lake trail access or easy trail access without lake entrance. Every one had their own bathroom for the stay. Everything was clean and great for everyone who stayed. Big lot to store trailers if you brought one and plenty of overflow parking for vehicles. I will definitely stay here next year if we have snow. When I had a question they answered immediately even though it was 2300 hours.

We had an incredibly peaceful weekend at the cabin. This place was the perfect fit for the 5 of us and such a cozy spot. We loved having the canoes and kayak to use, and it's an easy paddle right into town for lunch! We enjoyed beautiful sunrises from the dock, and sunsets and stars at the fire pit. We'd come back here any time!

The house has a lovely view of the lake and a nice sandy lakefront. It’s conveniently close to town. We had some questions while we were there and Mike was always very responsive.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful lake house, although we didn’t experience much of the lake because we were there for a ski trip to Gore and we got over a foot of snow. We did spend a lot of time in the house. It’s really great — comfortable, clean, modern, well-decorated and -designed, just a terrific vacation home. Location wise, it’s an easy 20-minute ride down a main highway to get to Gore, so no problem there. It’s two minutes to get to a Stewart’s and a couple of restaurants, delis, pubs, pizza. Not a huge selection of choices but enough for a long weekend. Lisa was an excellent host, available throughout our stay for little questions we had. We would love to stay again in the summer to see what it’s like when it’s not covered in snow. The lake is absolutely beautiful. 100% recommend. You’ll have a great time.

Everything was exactly as listed in the write up of the property. Melissa was very easy to communicate with, well ahead of our booked weekend. Thank you again for the early check in! Much appreciated! The cabin location was perfect, right on the water, beautiful! Also, right in town so anything we needed to do was within walking distance; 15 minute drive to old forge. We will be back in the summer months with the kids, they will love it just as much as we did!

This home is amazing. Literally sitting on the shore of Lake Sacandaga and surrounded by beautiful woods. The home is so comfortable and clean. It had anything we needed for our long weekend stay. We enjoyed the fireplace, board games, watching the northern lights from the deck and cooking. Very centrally located as we explored all around the area, from Wells, Northville and Speculator! We will be back!

Our stay was awesome. Glenn was very accommodating, allowed an early check in. Responded to questions in a timely manner, provided local recommendations. The house was spacious and suitable for larger groups. The location of this house was pristine and right on the water. Perfect for a weekend getaway. I would highly recommend!
