I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Motherby House and am so grateful to the hosts, Jacquie and David, for making me feel so welcome. They’re both kind and engaging—and they gave me some great recommendations for places to eat and visit in the area. Breakfast was delicious and Jacquie kindly made me a tasty packed lunch for my hike! I’d be very happy to stay here again.

I am not sure I can add more superlatives to my last review - lovely house, perfect location and terrific hospitality.

Beautiful warm clean accommodation . The bed was the most comfortable I’ve slept in. Bathroom was large, very clean and hot water. Julie left us a wide choice of breakfast including vegan, lovely. Very private and quiet, parking. Attention to detail was great “sheep” .

Easy enough to find, friendly host and clean comfy bedroom. Beautiful views and a relaxing stay.

Stayed 4 days in Paul’s lovely cottage, just a short walk from Hawkshead village. The accommodations were as expected and Paul could not have been a more gracious host. He has a wealth of local knowledge and directed us on some beautiful walks. Breakfasts were fantastic! Would absolutely return in a heartbeat.

Great peaceful stay in beautiful location, opposite the marshes... a stunning sunset walk! Delicious breakfasts, Raphaela went out of her way to cater a tasty vegan breakfast. One of my favourite breakfasts in a long time! Thank you for a warm and friendly stay, would highly recommend :)

We had the most magical stay at Kates idilic countryside paradise. A cosy, quirky home filled with Kate’s treasures and creativity, and also lots of cats which made me very happy. We visited with our 8 month old which is always a bit tense staying in someone else home when travelling with a baby but she made us feel extremely welcome, greeting us on arrival with a cosy fire ready for us. Although we didn’t get much sleep as our baby was in a sleep regression, the beautiful and peaceful surroundings certainly made up for this. The rooms are beautifully decorated, with breathtaking views from the comfort of your bed. I could have stayed there all day staring out the window. After long days of hiking, it was such a pleasure being able to retreat to Kates cosy house, making use of the kitchen and relaxing in the lounge by the fire in the evening. No phone or TV usage, we chilled by the fire with book in hand with happy cats sat at our feet. We will definitely return again one day :)

Karen's house is so peaceful and so welcoming - feels like staying at my own house.. She is responsive, looks after requirement and especially her homemade Breakfasts are to yummy.

Fantastic B&B, the whole house is decorated beautifully and we stayed in room 4 which was spacious, comfortable and relaxing including a sofa. It had everything we needed and more including extra toiletry items in the bathroom. Everything was spotlessly clean and the room smelled lovely. The bed was also very comfortable. There was a good selection of cereals etc and cooked meals for breakfast. All were delicious and it was a shame we only stayed 2 nights so we couldn't try more of the options! Sharon was a lovely host, very helpful and easy to chat to. We would certainly recommend this B&B to anyone visiting Keswick.

We had a lovely night’s stay. The location is perfect for Kirkby Lonsdale, especially useful given the town itself is very short on parking. It’s a 5-10 minute walk into the centre which is ideal. Fiona provided a long list of recommendations for our stay and communicated promptly throughout. Our room was large and very well furnished. The bathroom was big and the shower excellent. The free ginger cake was great! Breakfast was lovely and so much of it - we had a Full English but fruit, yogurts, cereal and toast were also included. The price for the room was also very competitive. Why pay more for a hotel when this place has everything you could possibly need?

We found the Kentrigg House accommodation spacious and very comfortable. The private sitting area with it's own TV is a great place to relax before going to bed. Elizabeth's continental breakfasts are wonderful. Breakfast is served in a large conservatory with great views across the valley. A relaxing and enjoyable stay. We will book again!

Brian's farmhouse was a delight to stay in. Brian was a great host and has an understated warmth about him. he was very helpful advising us to pre-book the local restaurant as it often books up and the meal was great. for the surroundings, this area was simply unbelievable. like something out of Tolkien. very happy with the stay wouldn't change a thing

Lovely family room with comfortable beds and spotless bathroom. Great spot at end or start of Hadrian’s Wall trail. Breakfast great as was the food in the Bistro in the evening. Only minor downside was room was very bright as blinds didn’t block light.

Penny was very welcoming and the accommodation was perfect for my quick visit. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Clare is a great host and a very nice person! Provided me with everything that I needed for my stay and even more! Lovely place, felt at home. Lovely dogs very friendly. Good bed, bedroom with a lot of space, good bathroom and shower, lot of space on the wardrobe, a place to make a coffee and a mini fridge. Perfect place to be!!

Tony is a kind, reliable, and responsive host who made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The house is beautifully decorated and thoughtfully furnished, creating a warm and comfortable environment. Its location is ideal: just a 10-minute walk from both the train and main bus stations, which makes it a perfect base for exploring the Lake District. We especially enjoyed not having to worry about breakfast each morning before heading off early on our new adventures. Special highlights were spending time with Smudge, Tony’s adorable and playful kitten, and admiring Tony's latest pottery creations. We’d gladly stay here again without hesitation!

Firstly, and most importantly, Sara was the most incredible host. She is a wonderful human, and looked after me perfectly. Coffee and breakfast in the morning. She arranged a seat in the sun for reading outside in the afternoon, and pre-lit the fire in the evening so the private living room was cozy on my return from dinner. And so much more. Birkenpath is a gem of a house, set in the most gorgeous nature. Large and comfy bedroom inside, and gorgeous hikes just out the front door. Don’t hesitate to book. It is among the very best of the best.

I arrived earlier than check in just to advise that I was actually there and was not a no show due to me not returning till late that night. I was given my keys and had immediate access to the room and a quick drink in the bar before I went to do my thing . A lovely place to come home to with friendly locals in the bar while I was having a nightcap :-)

we stayed at Liz and Edwards farm which was one of the most memorable experience. The place was tastefully decorated by Liz who had been an amazing, helpful and kind host serving up delicious cakes and breakfast each day, making sure we start the day right! She was extremely helpful in suggesting places to visit as well as showed us around her beautiful farm. One of the best bnb's i have stayed at and would definitely visit back when visiting the lake district. The farm gets covered by a blanket of stars at night, an ideal location for a peaceful holiday!

Good little place to stay near the start/end of the Hadrian’s Wall Path, which is a 20-30 minute walk away. Room was spacious and had a handy kitchen space.

Kim was very welcoming. Peaceful area not too far from kendal centre. I enjoyed my stay
