Am I sleeping in an art gallery? Or is it a botanical garden? Or a wine making lab? My host in Maxcunú, Adolfo, is a retired university researcher. He’s an agronomy engineer, but has several hobbies he’s passionate about, always focused primarily on the culture and lands of the Maya. My room, called "Tropical Birds", has remarkable works of art, and indeed, the whole property is covered with fascinating artworks. Adolfo volunteered to pick me up and drop me off at the Tren Maya station, which in any case is near town. It's a pleasant small town, safe to walk at night. Apart from Adolfo's own art gallery and botanical gardens and a few places around the plaza, there's not a lot of touristic interest right in town, but it's well located for several Maya sites, caves, and walking in the hills. The facility is as described with all the things you'd expect in a good airbnb. This is one place where conversation with the host is a definite plus, with his extraordinary wealth of knowledge.

Arturo fue muy amable y rápido para contestar. Desde el inicio dio mucha información del lugar y de lo que podíamos hacer para aprovechar nuestro viaje. La parte que más nos gustó de todo el departamento, fue la zona de cocina, comedor, sala y terraza, con una vista increíble y una amplitud que se disfruta mucho para familias grandes como la nuestra. No fue fácil encontrar un lugar con 5 habitaciones y esta es una muy buena opción. Por otro lado, fuimos felices con la recomendación de Lulú y Fátima, quienes cocinan comida típica deliciosa y muy abundante. Dos días seguidos desayunamos, comimos y cenamos ahí, de lo rico que estaba todo lo que nos prepararon. Muchas gracias por todo.

We loved our time at Lulu's place! It was spacious with a great relaxing feel and lots of seating options. The outdoor patio space was like a full second living room and kept cool with the shade and the ocean wind. Car is a requirement here, but there is a great carport in the driveway. There is some construction going on but not able to hear from the house. Views were relaxing and water was so close off the porch. We caught some jacks right off the beach which was fun. We were able to Uber in and out of progresso for some drinks but order in advance if you can, the Uber took over 30mins to pick us up. We were glad to have the rental car. The kitchen had many of the necessities to cook including some staple items whoch was great not to have to shop for. We hope to come back again!

I was very happy to arrive at this place, this home is exactly what an AirBnB should be, a complete home away from home. House provided for all essentials and more. Large property lot, lemon and fruit trees, pool and kids pool, barbecue and even shampoo and conditioner, cooking essentials and much more. Ac worked great and bedroom sheets were just so cozy. Nicely decorated touches too. Location wise was also great, a little on the outskirts but super private and quiet. Highly recommended!

viajo regularmente a Izamal, y he probado varios alojamientos, sin duda casa tamarindos es el mejor, el lugar es muy amplio, muy bonito, la piscina tipo cenote de agua fresca se agradece en ese clima. viajo con mascotas y ellas disfrutan mucho de la naturaleza del lugar.

I truly hope to come back to this place, it was so cool. Beds are comfortable and the place is truly unique. I was worried the jungle sounds would be too loud to sleep but it was great. Pool was amazing. Some tips: Ask for detailed instructions for check in prior to arrival, (show pictures of the house as staff may take you to the wrong one) take screenshots of wifi login info so you can reach the outside world once you arrive to the house (as we had no cell reception, and I had trouble with the lock as it was a new type to me), if the lock is new to you, ask someone to show you how to both lock and unlock the door, bring food and everything you need as it really is out there, be prepared to ask for help in Spanish from onsite staff. We didn’t have trouble with any critters in our rooms or shoes but be careful opening the kitchen drawers as some like to hide in there. Finally, the natural environment is amazing, don’t miss the star gazing on the rooftop!

Militza was quick to respond. Great location to good restaurants around the area. Easy walking to the beach, the Malecon and downtown. Loved the sitting area in front wish the back had chairs but oh well, we made it work.

We loved staying at this jungle house. it was in a beautiful location close to coba and tulum. host was responsive and easy to communicate with.

Suzy’s house is beautiful, as is the setting. Very tranquil and peaceful, yet still only a 30 minute drive or so to the beach and also close to Coba. Suzy was super helpful with recommendations and very communicative throughout our stay. Would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of Tulum downtown.

Es un lugar muy bonito, tiene todo para estar tranquilo y conviviendo en familia muy a gusto. Lo único que me faltó fue un lavadero 😂 Sin duda volvería .

We had a wonderful stay at Eduardo’s place. He was incredibly kind, helpful, and gave us great local tips. The hacienda is tucked away in the jungle — a true retreat, quiet and surrounded by nature. When we first arrived, my wife found the house a bit mysterious due to its older style, which gives it a special atmosphere. But everything turned out to be well-maintained, clean, and fully equipped for a comfortable stay. The house is spacious, especially the bedrooms, and while there isn’t a large indoor living room, the outdoor patio is perfect for relaxing, eating, and enjoying the surroundings. We didn’t miss a thing. It’s also a great place for families with young children — calm, safe, and lots of room to explore. Having a private cenote right on the property was an absolute highlight. The hacienda is also ideally located for visiting nearby cenotes and stunning Mayan sites like Ek Balam and Hubiku Cenote.

La piscina y todo el resto de la casa estuvo impecable, mi familia y yo la pasamos super bien Martha fue muy accesible con la hora de llegada al poder llegar antes e igualmente a la salida. Eso nos dió oportunidad de disfrutar más del increíble lugar. Si buscan un lugar para estar tranquilos y con la familia está excelente, tiene uno oportunidad de asar carnes y tener una excelente reunión familiar. Las habitaciones están lindísimas, con mucho diseño y cuidados. Las camas, Toallas y sábanas calidad premium, tienen el detalle de darte shampoo y jabón de tocador, líquidos para trastes que ya en pocos en airbnb han dejado de hacerlo, y se agradece muchísimo. Mi hija se divirtió mucho en el brincolín, la casita de madera del jardín, los juegos de mesa fue excelente para convivir. La piscina tiene área para niños así que es súper ideal para niños con supervisión. Tomen en cuenta que si es una noche de calor tal vez si lo sientan.

El lugar está increíble, considero que las fotos no le hacen justicia. Hay cámaras que dan a la entrada principal y a la piscina. Cerca hay cenotes a los que se puede ir caminando, así como tiendas y cocinas, el centro está aprox a 15min caminando. La casa es chica y las camas son individuales, pero pueden dormir más personas en las hamacas o en el sofá cama. La cocina está muy bien equipada: vasos, sartenes, tazas, bowl, platos, utensilios, etc. eso sí, como esta al aire libre, laven todo antes de usarlo. Recomendaría estancia de +4 días para poder disfrutar de la casa y de los cenotes/de Homun en sí, es una opción increíble para hospedarse, puedes comer afuera, en el jardín para vibes más bonitas.
