This is a great place to drive and start a walk in the forest. The visitor centre has lots of interesting local and nature information. There's a pub at the top of High Beech too so if you want to grab a bite after you're walk, it's easy.

There's so much nature to explore around Epping. The visitor centre is a good place to start. It has a carpark and a pub for when you need to warm up after your walk.

High Beach Forest Centre, situated at a traditional Epping Forest beauty spot, is a great place to picnic and an ideal stop on your way through the Forest.

Epping Forest is an area of ancient woodland straddling the border between north-east London and Essex. It is a former royal forest. It covers 2,476 hectares (6,118.32 acres) and contains areas of woodland, grassland, heath, rivers, bogs and ponds, and most of it is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Area of Conservation. There are many entrances to this 19km forest so I recommend a starting point being the visitor centre. This is in Loughton and a 10 minute drive from us.
