Tewkesbury along with Hereford and Worcester have superb Medieval Cathedrals that are free to enter.
Originally a Benedictine monastery, this incredible building is well worth a visit. Pevsner described the Norman tower as “probably the largest and finest Romanesque tower in England”. Tewkesbury is also a very pretty town with a number of other attractions, including the John Moore Museum.
The Abbey Church of St Mary the Virgin, Tewkesbury, in the English county of Gloucestershire, is a parish church and a former Benedictine monastery. It is one of the finest examples of Norman architecture in Britain, and has probably the largest Romanesque crossing tower in Europe.
