This is an active prison and not open to the public (unless of course you are an inmate). I am mentioning this because if you happened to be driving down Bath Rd you will see it. It is a beautiful structure and is nick named the Barbie building. The facility was opened in 1930, and is now the oldest operational federal penitentiary in Ontario. The main prison is medium security, with a minimum security facility. A 96-bed maximum security unit became operational when the main Kingston Pen was closed down.
