For over a century, Cavé pastry shop has been a must-go place during a visit to Rio Downtwn. Getting inside is a journey to the past to relive a little bit of the Ancient Rio. First pastry shop in town, it was founded in March 1860 by Charles Auguste Cavé, a French man who led the business through 1922. It was later taken by Portuguese associates who brought to the menu dishes which still can be found there, such as the famous Pastel de Belém (Portuguese custard tarts), toucinho do céu (Portuguese almond cake), and dom Rodrigo, which is made with egg threads and cinnamon.

A mais antiga confeitaria da cidade - fundada por um imigrante francês em 1860. Estilo art nouveau. Ambiente discreto, e uma mesa de chá jeito de caseiro.
