If your coming to Opunake you are coming the beach right? The beach is good for surfing, body boarding and swimming. This beach is sandy and relatively flat so no sudden drop offs. The local Surf Life Saving club are very active over the summer and there to keep us all safe. The tidal change can be very quick and interrupt a few picnics on the beach. There are two communal free gas BBQ's available for traditional sausage and bread or something fancier and a playground for the kids.

Beach town 30 minutes away with walkways (cliff top and around a lake), snack kiosk, playground, kids’ wading pool, surfing, and swimming (lifeguards in summer).
