One of my favorite spots in SF as it's definitely not something you'll find in other cities. Climb up Greenwich, walk around or visit Coit Tower and descend the Filbert St side (or continue west, down into North Beach)- each approach is distinct.

Walking DOWN the Greenwich Steps or the Filbert Steps on the east side of Telegraph Hill is an experience not to be missed. Walking UP the steps is more strenuous but just as fun . . . perhaps go down one of them and up the other one.

Hike up these steps through the tropical gardens of some lucky San Francisco residents. Look out for the parrots. Be warned - this is a lot of steps!
