San Francisco Chinatown is the largest Chinese community on the West Coast, and the second largest in the United States surpassed only by New York City's. It's one of the most exotic-feeling parts of San Francisco and at times, you may hear more Chinese spoken on Stockton Street than on the streets…

[1 of Markus' TOP 10 Things to See and Do in the SF Bay Area] Chinatown is mostly shops and restaurants, but it can feel like you are in China because of the number of Asians walking around. I recommend going at night. Worth walking from the Dragon Gate all the way north to Columbus St.

Beautiful and historic neighborhood that isn't to be missed: start with the gate on Grant avenue and walk towards Broadway. Chinatown's architecture is absolutely gorgeous. Get dimsum at Good Mongkok Bakery :)

Colorful, historic and one of the oldest Chinatowns in the US. Can stroll there from Union Square and then continue on to North Beach.
