The Met Cloisters

Take the A train to northern Manhattan to visit the Cloisters, a branch of the Met dedicated to medieval European art and architecture. Located on four acres, the museum of five cloistered abbeys has great views of the Hudson River and George Washington Bridge, and the gardens are a quiet display of medieval life. Concerts at the museum’s Fuentiduena Chapel sound like the echoes of some other time and place far away from New York City. It’s worth planning your visit around one.

I highly recommend Met-Cloisters. You may use the same ticket that you got from Met Fifth Avenue for free admission. It's a European medieval architecture located in Washington Heights, contributed by the Rockefeller family. Amazing surroundings and a nice place for a short hike.

One of our favorite spots, the Cloisters offer a portal to another world. Beautiful and peaceful setting... probably best for adults and older children.

The incredibly unique reconstructed Italian medieval Cloister nestled on top of one of New York's most magical parks. Visit one of the Metropolitan Museum's most charming branches.

Straight to the top! The Cloisters is some weird medieval monastery that I never understood but it is a really nice place to ride a bike or have a picnic. Inwood

This location is part of the MET but I recommend going in the morning if possible to appreciate the serenity.
