Running through the city with bars and restaurants along it, you can go for a walk on the meadows, admire the weir or have an ice cream at the band stand.

There are various places you can access the River Dee but the best place is probably the "Groves" by the wier, there are two pubs down there and coffee places and public tiolets along with a bandstand and the "Recorder steps" that take you up to the Saxon/Norman walls and to either the Castle or to the Eastgate clock via the "Wishing steps", a MUST visit in Chester.
