These gardens show the the original style of gardens from Taisho period. They are well known for beautiful rose flowers in the spring. A western-style mansion, is the landmark centerpiece.

This is a nice garden and English-style home. It is easy to reach by JR train from the Tokyo station. I can imagine that it is fantastic during rose season and azalea season. They roses are now out bloom and the caretakers were deadheading all blooms that were left. There is a peaceful walk around a tradition Japanese lake with nice sculpture. You can walk from this garden to Rikugien in about 15 minutes. This is a good place to start. There are many maples so it will be good in the next month. I really enjoyed my morning walk here and it relaxed me.
