The hospitality of the family and the good energy that one could feel at Ama Om's was far beyond our expectations. From the very moment of arrival we felt a part of the family. Ama, the spirit of the house, with her way of living, her smile and warmth creates the harmony that makes everyone around her to feel really at home. They assured that our needs were fulfilled at every time and accommodated to our needs (timetables, dietary requirements, etc.). The house is beautifully nested in a valley above Punakha, surrounded with fields of rice and buckwheat, and with fruit trees (avocado, papaya, banana, etc.). The road to get there is a bit bumpy, but it is worth the drive without any doubt. They showed us how the local wine (Ara) is prepared, including a quite clever distillation process using 3 simple pots. It was nice to experience that they live in a community getting and giving support to each other in the neighbourhood as needed. We already miss our stay at Ama Om's

Dechen and her team are wonderful people. They were friendly, helpful and helped us check in easily and comfortably. The apartment is lovely, and had everything we needed, in a very peaceful area. We are glad we stayed with Dechen.

This house was a great place. Not very far from the city center. It was quiet and peaceful. They cooked lively food for us! Kids loved plucking fresh oranges from the orange tree. The fireplace in the evening was cosy. Everything was perfect about this house. Highly recommend to other travellers.

Pros: The room is nice, clean & modern. It’s cozy to stay in, and the host accommodated my request for a room where I could sleep peacefully. All the female staff are well-trained. My room didn’t include breakfast, so I ordered it separately. The food was good & you can enjoy a continental breakfast (pancakes, tea, bread and jam, fruits). However, be sure to double-check the prices, as the rate card on the menu may be outdated. Cons: Since this is an Airbnb room, your payment does not include accommodation for your guide and driver. In Bhutan, unlike many other countries, independent travel is not allowed—you’ll always be accompanied by a guide and driver. If the host doesn’t provide them with a room (and to some extent, meals), they may have to stay elsewhere. This can raise safety concerns for your guide, and it’s an uncomfortable situation for every one of this extra expense. However, in my case, the host kindly provided a room for both driver and guide, so the issue was resolved.

An amazing stay by Sonam and Nima. Extremely warm people and an more amazing flat to stay in. Me and my fiance just loved the stay.

My group had booked all four of the rooms here. Hospitality was unbeatable at this place and our group of 8 people had a great time here. Out of the 4 Airbnbs we stayed in during our time in Bhutan, this was the best one. It is close to Tiger's Nest and just 5 mins from Paro town. The host has a long history of hospitality is planning a lot of improvements to this place, so definitely check it out. Some nice touches that we saw here: - The host arranged a nice bonfire for us on a short notice. - A large kitchen with all amenities and equipment. We were even given a huge breakfast free of charge. - A cup of tea and biscuits to welcome us. - Transportation to the airport was provided for a nominal charge. - Local transportation was also offered.
