This is the second time that we have stayed with Donnie. The first time was in one of the cabooses. This time we stayed in The Depot. Both of these places were as described and pictured! I had good enough phone service that we did not miss having WiFi and there was cable for television. I had two children with me, an eight year old and a twelve year old, and they were both fine there! And we could look out the front door and see Buffalo Mountain. Because of Hurricane Helene damage, we did not get to go there but it was not for lack of trying! Sunday morning before we left, I got to see a deer in the pasture behind the depot! And some beautiful sunrises!

Beautiful location, place as described. Jacuzzi was great. Lots of hot water. Good water pressure, good shower. Bed was comfortable. Donnie was helpful and responsive.

We wanted to do something unique & different for our anniversary & this did NOT disappoint. From the “main” road you can see the 3 red cabooses up on the hill & our hearts smiled. They recently had storms & we could see where the flood waters deteriorated the sides of the driveway but it was still wide enough for us to pass another small vehicle if needed. Office Check in was a breeze and took less than five mins before we were standing in our getaway train(caboose) which is on a real track! We were the only ones staying this weekend but if others were present, there was plenty of room. Our furbabies throughly enjoyed having a large field in front of the cabooses to run in. The views from the swings were breathtaking especially during the sunsets. Once Inside, we enjoyed the comforts of home (except for a stove). The hotness of the water & the relaxing hot tub added to our experience. Some things were dated but that is to come with the territory. We hope to visit again in the fall.

Clean! Smelled great too. Geat distance (within 10min) to hiking (Ash Cave) in one direction and then a pizzeria with all kinds of drinks and snacks in the other. On a fairly traveled road in front, but also a great small space to explore right behind and firepit. Well kept! It was great for our young family. Very fun.

We really enjoyed our stay in the Mo-Pac caboose on your beautiful and peaceful ranch. It was such a unique experience—quiet, relaxing, and a great way to disconnect. We had a great time and would definitely recommend the stay for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with a unique twist! Thank you for being a great host.

We stayed with our two dogs at Donnie's caboose over Thanksgiving while visiting family in the area. The location was great and super close to our family. It was quiet, peaceful, and beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again!

This was our fourth stay at Apple Ridge! The cabooses are perfect to stay in and the location is so peaceful & relaxing. We go to get away from the hustle & bustle of life. We enjoy walks around the property and read books. When ready we head into Floyd for drinks (wine, beer & spirits) and food. Excellent hiking trails throughout the area. Definitely a place to visit!

From the first turn onto the gravel drive, flanked by endless green pastures and grazing cattle, every detail felt like stepping into a living work of art. The etched stone signage, the winding wooded path, and finally, the majestic Caboose—restored and repurposed with stunning craftsmanship—captured our imagination instantly. Traditional lantern lighting accented its charm, standing proudly against the landscape. Inside, the thoughtful design overwhelmed us: a beautiful scent, a lofted retreat, exquisite bathroom, outdoor and indoor showers, digital art feature, and luxurious king-sized bed. Every label, every touch from the homemade bread to the curated local guide spoke volumes of the heart behind this place. Though 40 minutes from our family, it was beyond worth it. A stay here is not just lodging—it’s an Unforgettable memory!

This little place went way above our expectations! We had never stayed in a place quite like this, and we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. It’s easy to get to, private, so cozy and near everything! And there is a deck that is perfect as it overlooks the woods and is ideal for an evening glass of wine. We went down to see our daughter ride at the Tryon Equestrian Center for the IHSA Nationals (humble brag) and it is only five minutes away. Perfect! Could not ask for a better location. The place was clean, instructions were clear and we just had a great time! Great memories, and we can’t wait to tell our friends about it! Thank you!

We absolutely loved our stay here! It was far too short of a trip for us but even the one night was worth it and was definitely better than just staying at a hotel for the night. It was cozy but didn’t feel cramped at all with two adults and two kids

Comfort & Atmosphere: It was surprisingly peaceful inside the train, with minimal noise considering its downtown location. The air conditioning worked well (a must in Florida), and there was decent Wi-Fi for streaming or getting a little work done. The novelty of staying in a train added to the charm — it’s definitely not your average hotel stay! Final Thoughts: If you’re looking for something different from a typical hotel or Airbnb, this train stay is a fantastic choice. It’s perfect for a quick getaway, a romantic evening, or a fun stay with friends. I’d absolutely recommend it to travelers looking for something memorable and centrally located in Jacksonville.

Fantastic place! This home is in a quiet neighborhood with a family friendly feel. The home is an old train car. It’s very unique and absolutely adorable!!! Love the decor and the porch swing. Enjoyed our stay and will definitely book again when we visit again 🚂

This was the most magical stay for our family on Easter weekend. Even with storms thundering for 2 out of 3 days, the views and space were everything we hoped for. Hiking the property together, watching lightning from the back porch, and just BEING in the space was exactly what we needed to decompress from the city and spend time together. There is nothing that I would change about the space or our time there—other than staying longer if we could have. We are already excited to return when the time is right. I can’t really say enough good things about this rental or the host—if nature and peace are what you are seeking, this must be the place.

Very unique stay and our girls loved it. Only complaint we had was the strong Sulphur water smell and we understand it could be difficult to manage this.

AWESOME PLACE TO GO AND TRAVEL TO. the town has lots of sight seeing and stores to go to. the Train was AMAZINGGGG a true dream come true for my childhood bucketlist!!!

Everything is above and beyond what I'd expected. Very clean, relaxing, and well decorated. Hot tub and fire pit in the spacious backyard are great. Bathroom is like being at a 5 star resort. Communication with Pete before my trip was great.

The caboose was such a fun place to stay. My 17 year old son was very surprised and loved it. He spent a lot of time in the cupola enjoying the scenery. The restoration of the caboose was great and the bathroom was functional and clean. Unfortunately it was raining when we stayed so we couldn't enjoy the outside amenities but they looked amazing. The caboose was clean and comfortable and fun to stay in during the rain. The hosts both greeted us and welcomed us in. They explained everything we needed to know and were the definition of "Southern hospitality". We truly enjoyed our short stay and will return.

I visited on a solo trip and it was perfect from the fun/beautiful look of the place. It felt very calm and safe being there and it was close to town and all of the nice outdoorsy things. I also appreciated the host being so proactive and giving great suggestions. I definitely recommend and would stay again!

Beautiful surroundings, quiet except for the sounds of nature. Truly an epic destination. Would definitely return but with MORE friends! This trip was just the two of us.
