This is a special place in a beautiful setting off the main route. We loved the cozy cabin with a lovely porch. We also loved the neighborhood, very quiet and peaceful. I hope to stay here again someday and highly recommend it to others looking for a relaxing place to stay.

Nested in the mountains by Nagano. The journey though quite arduous, leads to a cat lovers paradise. Toyoko-San a beautiful host with her beautiful feline friends greeted us with extreme warmth everyday we were there. Tyroll and Apollo spoiled us with love every time we saw them and all the cats were adorable and chubby little balls of joy. We had a delicious breakfast every morning. It was one of the greatest experiences of our lives. Can't wait to see them again, will definitely come see the again. Everyone should come stay at a traditional Japanese home like Toyoko-sans's cat cafe . 🥰

Yumi and Brad have turned a tired hotel into a great little place that offers Western style service while maintaining the charm of small mountain village family inn. Room was Japanese style with a big queen size bed. Could easily sleep 5 people making the value very good. Breakfast was simple but filling. Great little bar downstairs with live music 3 nights a week. The best part of Yumi's place is the location. Right smack in the center of town. Not a lot to do, but it's a great place for a few days. Oh. And the skiing is world class! Just a short walk to the people mover and the hill is yours. Hit the hot spring baths around town after a ski and you will know why Japan is so magical! I'll be back!

Clean, pretty room view and a very complete breakfast. All staff is very kind. They drove me to my next hotel for free.

This is the second year in a row that we've stayed with Rika and Greg. We came back because we knew it would be a wonderful weekend. Location is very close to Ishiuchi ski resort and a short drive from Echigo Yazawa station. There's a really nice onsen just down the street from the house. Rika/Greg have great recommendations for delicious restaurants nearby. The house fits two large groups comfortably with a big common area, nice kitchen, drying room, and a bathroom facility that works well for large groups. To me, that's all I can hope for in an Airbnb. What makes this place the best in Japan is Greg and Rika. They make you feel like family. Always good recommendations, always good stories, and always happy to help. Really looking forward to continuing our annual Ishiuchi tradition and see Rika and Greg next year.

We happened to be the first visitors for this snow season. It was a comfy stay with breakfast; 3-min drive to Madarao ski resort; highly recommend
