I am Italian from NY, so I am super picky about my food....let alone ITALIAN food! The owners are from Italy and everything here is authentic! Great meals, appetizers and pizza! Inside has AC, outdoor deck looks out onto main street.

Super reasonable, good portion sizes, and amazing breakfast and lunch! She is only open till 3 and is always there with her husband cooking. They are closed on Tuesdays. I find her meals just like any diner in the states and it is very reasonable. Inside with a few booths and AC.

This is my favorite local "soda" (local restaurant) to stop for a VERY cold beer or a great reasonable local style meal. It is outdoors and just off of the beach close to the north end, not far from La Flor. "Casado" is the typical Costa Rican lunch or dinner and consists of a protein (chicken, fish, steak, or pork), rice, beans, plantains and a side salad. Cost is about 3,500 Costa Rican Colones or around $7 U.S. A typical breakfast in Costa Rica consists of Gallo Pinto (rice, beans, red peppers, cilantro and salsa lizano), and typically comes with toast or tortillas, fried cheese, eggs made how you like them, and usually fruit on the side. Cafe con Leche is regular coffee with milk.

Great somewhat new open area shopping/dining/nightlife spot in Jaco. It's pretty much the Go-To spot for everyone and is both family friendly and a great dining/nightlife spot.

Drinks & Nightlife

Selina's is a chain "hostel" located directly on the beach, which is AMAZING for sunset (every evening between 5 and 6 pm). There is an oceanfront bar and pool, and a restaurant. I have't eaten much there but the atmosphere and location are super cool. They have a ton of community oriented events, such as bi-monthly saturday beach clean up, kids cooking classes thursdays at 4:30, yoga and fitness classes which are open to the public and guests, free beginners kids surfing lessons on Sundays (time depends on the tide), etc. Most classes are $5 to the public. Pretty good evening/happy hour/early night scene.

Essentials

Located in the center of Jaco on the Main street. Pretty much has anything you need, including alcohol. If you are looking for more "North American" food items that you typically find in the States, you can go to Auto Mercado in Herradura (about a 10 minute drive), however prices will be higher than stores in Jaco, especially if you are buying things that are typically hard to get here.

In Costa Rica you do not need a Doctor's prescription for things like antibiotics, etc. If you need to go to the Doctor for any kind of minor emergency or cold, etc. I highly recommend Dr. Vladimir Mata. His office is located right next to Farmacia Sophia. As you exit the neighborhood, go right and it is about 3/4 of a mile, or a 10 minute walk into town on your right.
