21c houses one of the best contemporary art collections in the region with regular rotating exhibitions and programs. See their website for listing of artists talks, films, and music. The museum restaurant and bar, Proof On Main, is also a highlight. Full disclosure, I was the founding Director of 21c Museum so I may be a little bias but we love being just a few blocks away from this Louisville icon.

AMAZING...the collection houses Teddy Roosevelt's "Big Stick" and George Washington's long rifle. It is also the only place in the world you can see the Royal Armory collection outside of Leeds, England. The Frazier has a longterm agreement to share the royal collection. Its 2 blocks away.

Just down the street and a staple of my youth. They have an IMAX theater. Love to think that it is housed in the historic Carter Dry Goods building - my great grandfathers law office. His small writing desk in the bedroom.

McQuixote Books & Coffee is one of the closest places to go for a GREAT cup of coffee. They do not have an extensive menu but is an excellent value and offer good locally sources sandwiches too. They also have a charming/well stocked used and first edition book shop attached to the coffee shop. Best way to get there is on a bike along the river walk and sidewalk off the river path at 16th st that leads you right to the front door of the coffee shop.

Sightseeing

The Big Four Bridge is an historic abondoned railway bridge that was recently opened to pedestrian traffic only. It spans the Ohio River from Waterfront Park in Louisville to downtown Jeffersonville, IN. It is a lovely easy walk with great views of the city and sunsets. Cantina restaurant on Louisville side or one of the breweries on the Indiana side is a fun addition.
