This restaurant is close by so you don't have to go to Old Town for a fun meal. They have an outdoor patio, great margaritas (especially the jalapeño marg), a nice selection of seafood options you don't see at many Mexican restaurants and fabulous Carne Asada. Fresh salsas!

Best Thai food around, for sure! They've expanded and now have plenty of sitting room but are also perfect for take out. They are in the West Campus area, right off Shields (which is near my house). Fabulous Tom Kha Gai Soup!

I recommend this place a lot and it never fails to satisfy. Cozy ambience inside, and outside patio, too...right on the corner of the most happening area of town. Great food and drinks.

This trailhead and parking are close to my house, 15 minutes or so away. There are many trails to choose from, depending upon your ability/fitness level. There's an easy hike to a waterfall or a more challening hike UP to the top of Horsetooth rock, where the views of Fort Collins and the foothills are stunning.

Horsetooth Mountain Open Space
6550 West County Road 38 EastThis trailhead and parking are close to my house, 15 minutes or so away. There are many trails to choose from, depending upon your ability/fitness level. There's an easy hike to a waterfall or a more challening hike UP to the top of Horsetooth rock, where the views of Fort Collins and the foothills are stunning.
You can access this trail with a 5 minute walk from my house. It's got wide open views, goes east and west, and is good for both walking and biking. Raptor viewings are frequent. This photo I took is facing south, and obviously in the spring!

Bobcat Ridge Natural Area

Beautiful drive just north of town, up the Poudre Canyon, to access the trailhead.
You can take the Cathy Fromme Prairie trail right across the street, and make your way west to this trail, via bike or foot. Or, for a 5-6 minute drive, take Horsetooth west till it dead ends...you can park by the dog park and access this trail there, or stay on pavement on any of the trails accessed there...lots of parks, too.

Super close and a great place to SUP. You can rent paddle boards at the North Dam.
