Almost always a line, to avoid waiting head there before 9 am! They are known for their quiche among the rest of the piping hot and delish goods. I believe they are closed on Mondays.

This is the place so many seattle locals bring others who come in from out of town for an easy meal in a beautiful space. Be sure to pop into Elliott Bay Bookstore next door when you are there!

awesome ice cream. The honey lavendar and the black licorice are my fav's. If you go at night (really usually whenever you go) there will be a line, but they work through it quickly, and once you get your scoops, you can head over to Cal Anderson park and watch bike polo if they are playing in the tennis court across the street.

Lots of plants, open floor plan, good food. If you are on the hill head on over. Usually full of 20 - 30 somethings.

you get such a sweet understanding of the history of seattle from the resource/maritime perspective. They have free 1 hour tours that I always recommend I believe usually around 11 am and 1 pm, but double check their website before you go!

Parks & Nature

Discovery is where you will get a few different pnw habitats all in one. Forest, meadows, beach... All within about a 2 hour round trip hike through the park. If you want to go on a hike while you are here, but don't want to drive 1 hour out of the city, this is the spot for you.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. If you are up on the hill 4.00 will get you into this little plant oasis. The rest of volunteer park is great to stroll around also.

Arts & Culture

The underground tour is fantastic for people who love getting to know the history of the city they are in. Good for rainy days, as you are mostly underground. My sister and I went when she was here and we loved it!

If you want to treat your eardrums to a night of audio delight- the seattle symphony is for you. You can dress down, but I recommend you dress to the 9's. It is the symphony after all. Best to take the bus down, or parking garages are close too.

This place once had the best Picasso exhibit I've ever seen and best exhibit I've ever seen. They know their stuff here. Connect to the SAM is the Olympic Sculpture Park in Belltown, and the Asian Art Museum in Capitol Hill.

Shopping

Ballard ave is full of little shops with interesting things in them from a range of budget friendly gifts, to fancy "i'm on vacation so why not!" gifts for yourself and others. Plus it is just adorable. Stroll this street with a coffee or tea in hand, and you will be glad you did. Pro tip: not many places to sit, but under the belltower is nice as it has steps, shelter if it is drizzling, and a reminder of the time.
