If you want to see over a hundred glaciers in one spot, the Hurricane Ridge Lodge is the best spot. There are several trailheads from this vantage point. Summer wildflowers and drifts of snow with a small center for skiing, tubing and snowboarding. Ask us about snowshoeing routes in the winter and secret picnic areas in the summer. Visited once by President Roosevelt, this old hunting/fishing lodge has a blazing fireplace and a world class restaurant. It is a part of the Olympic National Park which means you can use the grounds for picnics and if you dare...jump into the very cold waters of Crescent Lake (or rent kayaks). This is also the place to park to find the trailhead for Marymere Waterfall. Ask us how to find the gigantic Large Leaf maple on the far side of the lake or where the trailhead is for the old tunnels and the Devil's Punch Bowl. Also we will give you directions to the secret "root" dell deep in the woods.

Just past Crescent Lake Lodge on the 101 going west (on your left) is the turn off for a spectacular rain-forest waterfall hike. This is a beginner to moderate hiker difficulty. The well maintained trail gently rolls over roots through hanging moss and giant ferns. Your reward for the 30 minute walk is the most spectacular waterfall on the Olympic Peninsula. Ask us how to find the roots that look like turtle heads, or when to photograph the falls with rainbows.

If you want to see magnificent rock stacks go no further than Salt Creek County Park. This is where everyone who is local goes to see Tidal Pools when there is a super low tide. We have seen starfish, anemones of blue, green and pink, sea urchins and an occasional octopus and river otters.

On Native land you must get a pass before you enter this huge cliff lookout to Tatoosh Island. This is the farthest NW point on the continent. Ask us about where to get your pass, where to hike, and where to get books written all about this sacred land.
