If you want to treat yourself to an amazing steak, this is the place to go. The Prime 225 menu usually includes seasonal seafood as well. All sides are served family style. They have a beautiful menu, and while not budget friendly, it is the perfect place to go for a special occasion meal. Reservations are required and tend to fill up a week in advance. Be sure to plan ahead! If you miss the opportunity to schedule ahead and don't mind sitting at the bar, there is limited first come, first served availability for the less than ten bar seats.

Also a great place to go for lunch and dinner, The Chesapeake Inn is the only place in Chesapeake City for nightlife. Every weekend there is live music on the waterfront, and boaters from all over visit to dock and dine. Visit the upstairs dining room for a more formal atmosphere. Something for everyone on the menu, and their cocktail menu will not disappoint.

Our Favorite Restaurants in Chesapeake City

Schaefer's Canal House is the only restaurant on the North side of the canal. The others are a short car-ride or water taxi ride across the canal to the South side of town.
Schaefer's Canal House is within a very short walk from the cottage... it is also our favorite restaurant in Chesapeake City. The cottage is also where the Schaefer family used to make their famous crab cakes. The recipe was top-secret with only family allowed in the cottage while they were made.

The Tap Room - Best place in the area for the traditional crab feast, and the locals swear by the Old Bay Fries. The ambiance is tavern-ish, very casual. They only accept cash, so plan accordingly.

Another one of our favorites for fresh food that won't break the budget (and killer chef specials) as well as a fun specialty cocktail menu. Located under the Chesapeake City's Well known "Bayard House Restaurant", is a Cozy, Charming, Intimate, little Gastro Pub. A popular hang out for locals, this little pub is a warm, inviting spot to hang out. The food is great, service is great, the atmosphere is cozy and intimate. There's a separate room facing the Canal, where you can watch the ships go by.
