City/town information

There’s no shortage of great things to experience in San Francisco. Breathtaking scenery, outstanding restaurants, inspiring culture and iconic sites you can’t find anywhere else. It’s the only city with cable cars, an orange bridge and a floating prison among other cool things. It’s a city with food festivals, outdoor concerts, even the world oldest and wackiest foot race. Whatever your passions may be, you’ll find plenty of ways to make the most of your next visit the city by the bay.

With opportunities for volleyball, hiking, picnicking, fishing, or surfing, people continue to visit Stinson Beach to escape from the frantic pace of everyday life, just they have been doing for over a century. The road to Stinson Beach is steep and winding. We recommend calling ahead for parking and weather updates. On hot days, the parking lot often fills before noon, and there are no overflow lots. Cars left in the parking lot after closing will be ticketed. Camping is not permitted.

Cable Cars San Francisco

There is nothing quite like riding a cable car up and down the hills of San Francisco. While they symbolize the early innovation that made the city iconic, the experience of riding a cable car is timeless. The cable car experience starts while waiting at the cable car turnarounds (at Powell or at California and Market Streets) or along the routes, waiting for the cable cars to approach. Once you hop on the cable car, you can either find a seat or hold on to the handles as you hang on for the ride. The cable car gripmen handle the grips to move the cars. Sausalito Floating Homes

The charming town, which sits on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, California, provides much to admire. An orange home with hot-pink trim is named Alien Lifeform Research. Blue-and-green mosaic serpents slither amid magenta bougainvillea and other flowers at another cottage.
