Tiny, cozy place, with lots of locals. The menu is short (one dish a day) but sweet. Despite being Aussie owned, this is Danish hygge at its best.

Sure, it's a chain. But it ain't Micky D. Looking for a family friendly, handrolls and decent espresso martinis, meatball on sticks, fast-but-not-too-fast, dinner with friends, and kids and a grandma too? Well, this is your place then. In walking distance.

Superb coffee, brunch and lunch right around the corner. Is avocado sandwich with poached eggs on sourdough made for Insta hipster food? Sure it is, but it also tastes damn delicious.

"Under the Watch" is a tiny classic Danish lunch place, with a passion for pickled herring and pan-fried fish and a snaps on the side. Traditional danish as it should be.

The recently opened Filur&Co offers, loosely translated, "Coffee Celebrations" and "Kids bait", whatever that is. Regardless, they do great coffee, ice creams and bubble teas.

Neighborhoods

Look outside the master bedroom window and you see the lakes. Specifically Sortedams Lake, one of the three that circles the central city. You can run it, stroll it, bike around it. And there are plenty of places to stop along the way. Have ice creams at Isoteket. Coffee at Original Coffee. Or fresh oysters and organic wines at Lago. Finish off with a ride on the paddleboat swan as the cherry on top.

City/town information

Looking for a daytrip? Get on the train to Humlebæk and the museum of modern art Louisiana. The train ride is about 40 minutes, and takes you on a lovely ride along the northcoast of Sjælland. The museum is 10 min walk from humlebæk station. Got more time on your hands take a stroll down to the harbour for an ice cream.

Sightseeing

In our backyard is the Danish National Museum, SMK. You can walk there through the park Øster Anlæg which has a lovely playground a little lake, old bunkers, and even another museum (The Hirschsprung Collection). The SMK offers great work shops for kids and has a great cafe and museum store.

Right in the heart of the royal gardens "Kongens Have" is Rosenborg Castle. The pretty little castle is heavily guarded by the Queens guard, as it has been housing the Royal family tressures for the past 400 years or so.
