Newark is best known because it's a college town, University of Delaware is housed there. There is a vibrant restaurant scene; with Iron Hill Brewery(great beer & pub food) and Home Grown Cafe ( local farm to table with vegan choices & excellent bar) being two of the longest standing eateries. Check out Taverna for it's homemade pasta and tasty Italian cuisine. Two newcomers of note: Peach Blossom for laid back but elegant brunch/lunch and the best coffee creations & cocktails around, and Hamilton's on Main, Approachable fine dining, craft cocktails, beer and wine served in a rustic chic setting, it has a distinctive Southern vibe.
