Hiking in the park
This is more of a walk along the rim on a paved path that goes over a geological explanation of how the canyon formed as you read the posted signs and the brochure along the way. It starts in just west next to the the Yavapai Geology Museum and goes all the way to Maricopa Point (which is on Hermits Rest Road) but most people just take it as far as the Grand Canyon Village (to the village is only about 1.4 miles in length).

This is a good short hike above the rim through the forest on a decent trail- awesome for kids and families. Has a lot picnic tables which makes for a great place to have lunch.
