Patsy's Pizzeria has a sit-down restaurant and also a take-out by the slice counter. The latter is a great way to sample a classic brick-oven fired slice for a very reasonable price. Less than $3 a slice.

Take a ride on the NYC ferry. An inexpensive river trip.

You can get on the NYC Ferry at 92nd Street and the FDR Promenade, steps from Gracie Mansion and Carl Schurz Park. The ferry costs the same as a ride on the NYC subway, and you will get riverfront views of the city, Manhattan on the west bank and Queens and Brooklyn on the east bank. A great inexpensive way to experience river travel and see the bridges and the East River unclose and personal. You can walk to the FDR promenade on E 112th Street and E102 St. A quick stroll south on the footpath will lead you right to the ferry pier on 92nd St.

Murals of East Harlem

East Harlem has many murals on sides of buildings. These public artworks date from the past half century. Can't miss is Graffitti Hall of Fame on 106th St just east of Madison Avenue and "Spirit of East Harlem" on 104th and Lexington. Then there is also the famous Keith Haring "Crack Is Wack" mural on a handball court wall in out of the way location. You can google map that location.

Try Some Street Food --- Tamales from Street Peddlers

Try authentic Mexican tamales --- chicken or pork. In red or green sauce. Street vendors sell these tamales each morning out of shopping carts and iceboxes. They're cheap and very tasty. Two would be an excellent breakfast. They can be purchased along 116th Street, a busy thoroughfare between Lexington and 3rd Avenues. Try the vendor who regularly sells from the northeast corner of 116th Street and Lexington Avenue. Each tamale is $2-3
