Forthright definitely has a lot of hype, and although it’s slightly overpriced (not shocking, they’re right downtown) the food is really delicious. Their menu has a little bit of everything from chicken and waffles to breakfast tacos, plus plenty of GF options if that’s your thing, but we highly recommend trying their avocado toast. It’s the avocado toast of all avocado toasts, with thick cut bread, generous portions of smashed avocado, and crushed red pepper and pepitas. Ask for poached eggs on top and a side of bacon.

Cafe No Se is a super trendy breakfast and brunch spot in the South Congress neighborhood in Austin, and we mention them here along with the masses because they do serve great food. Cafe No Se is a great spot to go to for some of the best breakfast and brunch in Austin if you’re looking for food on the healthier/lighter side but still delicious and worth eating out for. The oatmeal hotcakes are supppper popular here and we also endorse their beautiful and delicious gravlax bagel, too.

Serving French food in one of the most central, downtown locations, this is a great spot to take friends or out of town visitors. Le Politique is one of the most stunningly gorgeous restaurants in the entire city with some of the best breakfast and brunch in Austin. The eggs benedict is perfect for any occasion but if you’re feeling adventurous try the Galette Norvégienne. The burger at Le Polotique has nice flavor and although it’s not on our list of best burgers in Austin it’s definitely an honorable mention. And whatever you do order one (or five) of the chocolate croissants. You have never had a pastry so truly sublime.

If you’ve spent any time scouting out the Austin restaurant scene online, you know that June’s All Day is nothing short of trendy and everything that comes out of their kitchen is just as gorgeous as this Parisian style cafe with marble dining surfaces and checkered black and white tiles. Some say that they serve some of the BEST breakfast & brunch in Austin! Our take? Really delicious food and a really fun experience. To be more than straightforward, June’s is terribly overpriced, but no question a solid option for breakfast. Try the sourdough pancakes for something classic and deliciously buttery or the croque madame for a decadent dish that’s also their most popular (we loved it). June’s is a great breakfast or brunch spot if you’re not on a budget.

Paperboy is so perfectly Austin in so many different ways and serves some of the best breakfast and brunch in Austin if you’re looking to enjoy things food truck style. Situated on 11th street, they serve simple breakfast items like cinnamon toast or homemade biscuits, and then there’s the Texas Hash and the B.E.C (bacon, sunny egg, pimento cheese, buttermilk bun). We have eaten here in the dead heat of summer and during windy “winter” months and the food is always consistently hot and delicious regardless of conditions and despite being made in small quarters.

Launderette is another “perfectly Austin” restaurant situated on the east side of town, and definitely serves some of the best breakfast and brunch in Austin. They have great classic breakfast options or a delicious fried chicken sandwich or burger if you’re looking to put more “lunch” in your brunch. Try the pork shoulder hash for our favorite savory brunch menu items and at the very least share some buttermilk pancakes with someone else at the table.
