Beaches

There are many beautiful beaches on the island worth exploring. We only list the ones close to the house. East of Agkairia are Tripiti, Glyfa, Lolantonis, Chrysi Akti (Golden beach) [watersports], Logaras, Kalogeros [popular for its clay that can be applied to the body as a skin treatment], Molos, Santa Maria, Lageri, Piperi, Kolympithres, etc .
The beach of Piso Aliki (Πίσω Αλυκή) offers an original, no-chairs, no-umbrellas, no-music 300 meters beach with excellent water and sand that usually hosts the locals. This is what Greece used to be 50 years ago. 7 minutes by car home. We also walk there and back (it takes about 30-35 minutes each way but this depends on your tolerance of exercise and temperature).

Restaurants

Paros is becoming a food Mecca with inredible diversity. We only list those very close to the house. Many more choices exist. From the nearby ones, lets note "Kima" (recently renovated) in Dryos and the food festival every Monday night in the "Anezina Hotel" in Dryos (25 euros per person – fixed menu a lot of food - and excellent live Greek music: great value). Also don’t forget the amazing choices in Antiparos from the difficult to reach "Captain Pipinos Seafood Taverna" (12 km from Antiparos port) across Despotiko island (the recently excavated late Archaic religious sanctuary) to the interesting restaurant in the post modern "Rooster Wellness Resort" . Avoid the restaurants at the seafront in Paroikia – they are tourist traps (great point for viewing the sunset). Naousa (busy with the younger crowds) and Lefkes (up in the mountain - a “non-island” experience) offer many great choices for you to explore.
There are so many choices for food in Paros. All of them can get busy in high season, especially late in the night. This one offers great fish food, and quality. It is our personal favorite. (Aki's Balcony is also similar)

OK, this comes with a warning. The food is great. The value is awesome. The service is sloooooow. This is a family restaurant. 1 server, 1 cook, and a young boy of 10-12 take care of some times many guests 😊 In Summer of 2021 they did take out. The "Megali Poikilia" (="Great Variety") is a meat sampling feast at a great price.

More upscale than the other ones on Aliki seafront. We tried it several times and we liked it. We focused on items other than steaks (they may be great - we just did not try them) and we liked everything we tried.

We have not tried yet. The rumors say that it is an excellent restaurant :)

More secluded than the others in Aliki. Excellent and unique food prepared by a famous chef. We loved it everytime we visited.

We loved Aranto in Lefkes (around 30 minutes by car). Lefkes is a village on the mountain (a rather unexpected sight for the islands), that is worth exploring and walking around. Aranto is an easily accessible restaurant with nice views and very interesting greek plates. Definitely make a reservation before going as it is always busy. Tel: +30 2284 044070

Picturesque and calm setting by the sea. Creative presentation and tasty plates. Everybody loves it and this makes it busy. Do reserve before going. +30 2284 041180 One warning --> You will have to navigate about 100 meters of a very narrow street from the main road to the restaurant. Go slowly and pay attention to the mirrors that allow you to see the coming traffic in couple of tight turns.

Excellent seafood - specifically fresh fish. Beautiful setting next to the small harbor at Piso Livadi Reservations are a must. +30 2284 042177

In the city of Paroikia, this famous church dating to 4th c. AC is said to initially beng built by Eleni the mother of the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great. But most probably emperor Justinian built the main church. The Ekatontapyliani is a renowned Marian pilgrimage church of the Aegean, second only to the famed Megalochare church on nearby Tinos Island.

City/town information

For a mountain experience in Paros (yes there is more than the sea :)), visit Lefkes. It is the most mountainous village of Paros and the most verdurous one. Lefkes was the first capital of Paros. Visit at night for a spectacular view from the road. Park the car at the parking at the entrance of the village and walk around the paved alleys.
