The fanciest Italian restaurant on this side of the pond thanks to the people behind Cipriani. The food is well executed, but there's a premium on everything in exchange to a dreamy marina view, well trained staff and gorgeous decor.

If you want to have a sit down meal nearby and don't want to break the bank, give Sergio's a try. It's loaded with "healthy alternatives" like cauliflower rice, grilled chicken and side salads. I personally prefer to be half naughty and half nice. For example, I'll get the fried pork chunks masitas, but I'll get it with a side of broccoli and plain rice or black beans for my two sides. I also like that they serve a decent pinot grigio. For a quick bite, grab an empanada or a sandwich like the pan con lechón.

After a trip to Japan, this was the only restaurant in the area that hit the spot. For all intents and purposes this is like an izakaya, but the legend is the owner actually worked for the Japanese ambassador to Venezuela. At any rate, whether you're hankering for proper katsudon or just want an assortment of nigiri, this is the only place that tries to please without going off the rails with with gloppy dragon rolls or even worse the rolls with ripe plantains in it. One time they even made me curry tonkatsu. Their ramen game is not amazing, but they will make a decent one. They also stock good sake and Japanese groceries so you can try your hand at making your own recipes at home.

One taste of this place and you know it sits head and shoulders above most Chinese restaurants in the city. Don't judge a book by its cover, and look past the dated interior to understand why Chop Suey is probably the most authentic joint for Sichuanese and Cantonese in the area. I had their dan dan noodles once and was instantly hooked. But also try other specialties like the twice-cooked pork, salt & pepper mixed seafood, beef with mustard leaves and eggplant with minced pork and let me know what you think. Leave the beef with broccoli and combination fried rice for when you go to the regular places. Give yourself the chance to wade into deeper waters of Chinese gastronomy and you'll thank me for it.

I basically spend all week thinking about eating dim sum on Sunday. Then Sunday comes, and I start thinking about it again. The one place that literally ticks off all the dim sum boxes is Tropical Chinese. They have the rolling carts with the steamy goodness until a certain time of day, and then it's made to order but the variety decreases. Their baos, shu mai and har gow are all solid bets here. Want to try the chicken feet? I believe they've got those too. I always tend to over order, but it's ok, dim sum reheats well at home.

Amazing crispy pork belly and large combo plates called "completa:" 1 protein (stewed pork, roast chicken, beef) + 2 sides (yuca, rice & beans, mashed boniato). Fast, convenient, home-style food.
