Food scene

We love being able to sit and eat outside while enjoying the views, sunsets, ducks and turtles. The food is great too and we recommend the the grilled grouper, onion rings, the vegetable medley, broccoli etc.

We love these healthy and quick alternatives to fast food anytime. Check out their locations on Main st or Cherokee (North Shore) and basically get a nice and healthy restaurant meal to go.

Besides for the fact that Mike’s construction company got to help transform this old Feed and Seed building (where he used to come with his dad to buy feed for their horses) to maybe the coolest restaurant in town, the food is actually top notch. The food has the same quality ingredients as 1885 and both have same local owner. There’s outdoor seating and often live music especially on the weekends.

Neighborhoods

St. Elmo is at the foot of Lookout Mountain and the starting place for the famous incline. This historic and charming neighborhood has been restored during the last several years and can be enjoyed by visitors as a great stopping place on your way to Lookout mountain for a quick lunch at Mr. T’s pizza (and salads too) or a sit down dinner at one of Chattanooga’s most wonderful restaurants, 1885 (named according to the year when the building was built).

Northshore is connected to downtown Chattanooga by 4 bridges spanning the Tennessee River including the Walnut st walking bridge which is easily accessible by walking from either the TN Aquarium, the Bluff View Art District or from the Northshore side and Coolidge Park. The park is a wonderful place to relax, cool off by the fountains and ride the beautiful carousel. There are plenty of places to eat and Frazier Ave is a great place for shopping at local and quaint stores and boutiques. Taco Mamacita is a little off from Frazier but a local favorite. 2 North Shore is a great shopping area nearby and includes Rockcreek outdoor apparel, Whole Foods, Chattanooga Shoe Co. and Nooga Paws (upscale pet store) among others.

Sightseeing

The TN Aquarium marked one of the beginnings of a new downtown Chattanooga. It has been a local favorite since it opened in 1992 and a great tourist destination. We love the beautiful architecture and the layout which focuses on fish, birds, insects and animals whose habitats are the River systems both in the US and the world and also the salt water exhibit which includes penguins as well as sharks and other ocean creatures.

This is very a special place to us because of its great significance for our city and our nation. Also, Mike was the general contractor for the project and got to view the creation of the exhibits from start to finish. We honor all service personnel whose mission is to protect and preserve the ideals of freedom and democracy and this museum goes above and beyond with state of the art exhibits to educate the public and honor the recipients who represent the greatest character traits during some of the darkest times in this nation’s history.
