Grand Canyon Hiking

Tremendous Views from a ridge line that descends into the canyon! Logical turnaround points are at Ooh Aah Point (1 mile 600' down), Cedar Ridge (1.5 miles and 1,140' down), and Skeleton Point (3 miles and 2,040' down)

The Classic. Walking down the BA, hikers are staring across the widest part of Grand Canyon, the Bright Angel Fault. This trail features rest houses and water (seasonally) at regular intervals. Logical turnaround points are at Mile and A Half and Three Mile Rest Houses.

Sightseeing

An excellent stop along the rim with rare views of the Colorado River. This site was home to the first lodge on the rim. The unnamed viewpoints just beyond are great too if you want to get away from the crowds.

A must visit vista in my opinion. Features views of the river, down towards Phantom Ranch and up towards the Confluence. Don't miss the Native American Murals on each level of the tower itself! Also, the ice cream nearby is awesome!

The destination is the journey, so they say. Traveling the Hermit Road takes visitors past many excellent viewpoints and away from the crowds. Extra points if you rent bikes at the visitor center and pedal all the way here!

Food scene

As the oldest lodge in operation on the South Rim, El Tovar is worth a visit. Stop in to see the architecture, or better yet, have a drink in the bar. If you feel like treating yourself to a fancy meal after your hike, this is your place. Just be sure to make a reservation.

Delicious pub grub menu with extensive local beer tap list to match. Catch some live music on the patio or just soak up the sun with a cold brew.
