This was the place that started the Hyattsville Renaissance. Restaurant AND Gift/Toy Store in One! Has an onsite brewery. I recommend the Twisted Turtle Pale Ale.

From here you can access the Anacostia Tributary trail system. It's about a mile to the trail head from our house through the lovely Hyattsville Historic District. There's also a new memorial park to Jim Henson who was born and raised in Hyattsville. There's also a great playground particularly for the littler ones. Basketball courts.

You can now bike from Hyattsville down to the Navy Yard on trails and bike lanes with minimal traffic interaction. A fantastic new resource! Bring your bikes though cuz we don't allow our bikes to be used.

This is a good running option if you're looking to go 3 miles or more. Access to the branch trails is a mile in either direction from the Hygartenhaus but once on it you're connected to a vast network of trails. It's about 8 mile round trip run up to Lake Artemesia and back to house.
