Rent a bike, and bike till Venice Beach. But don’t leave your bike unattended! Great people watching and beautiful beach. Also fun to walk along 3rd Street Promenade. Or Main Street for a more local scene.

Great museums starts at Wilshire and Fairfax - Petersen Car Museum, LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Arts), La Brea Tar Pits (and the park) and soon The Academy Museum of Motion Arts (film). Also this area has The Grove (outdoor shopping mall with a trolley, Nordstrom, great eats) and attached to original The Farmers Market where you can find food from all over the world! And get great souvenirs (all at Fairfax and 3rd).

Fun to see Mann’s Chinese Theatre with the famous actors hands and feet imprints. Also the Hollywood Walk of Fame. You can take pictures with people dressed up as your favorite actors and visit the Hollywood Wax Museum. For eats, go to Hollywood and Highland (outdoor mall at Hollywood Blvd/Highland).

Take PCH (highway 1 from Santa Monica) and go North. You can stop at Zuma beach and watch the surfers —and jump in too! You can spend some money and go to Paradise Cove for lunch and really enjoy the view. Malibu is all coast, so don’t expect too much to see except for the beach. If you go further and life fish, Neptune’s Net is a famous stop (for motorcyclists and locals alike). There’s also a beautiful place called The Malibu Cafe. It’s in the middle of the woods and is gorgeous with chandeliers hanging from trees, outdoor games while you drink or wait for your food, music, row boats and more. Great vibe and a favorite!

It’s been booming and changing but it’s tough to still know where to go. Not really a day time place to visit unless you go to a game or concert at The Staples Center. I hear there is a good Rock and Roll museum and and Grand Central Market for good eats! Good place for Bars at night but know where your going first (have a plan) and don’t take a car. Cheaper to take Uber/Lift (otherwise it’s pay to park and many lots aren’t open at night).
