Situated a moments’ walk from the cottage the 16th century former coaching inn has a large restaurant and conservatory over looking the courtyard garden and children’s play area. The bar has a large range of local ales, ciders and beers along with an extensive wine list. A freshly prepared, locally sourced menu and specials board every day, we can recommend the carvery on a Sunday, served from 12pm. They also have a pool table, skittle alley and show all major sporting events.

Just 5 minutes’ walk away from the cottage, Croyde’s famous freehouse is our favourite place to visit, with great food including breakfast, specials board, surf reports and live music throughout the year, don’t get bitten by the rattler cider, it’s 6%!

Fantastic walk with stunning scenery, you can continue around the coastal path to Putsborough beach too if you have time. The Nation Trust Sandleigh Tea Room is at the start of the walk, if you go to Putsborough they have a lovely beach cafe you can pop into.

The fish and chips at this campsite are so good we had them at our wedding! Get them wrapped and walk along the footpath from Sandy Lane to enjoy them sat in the dunes. Not open all year so give them a call to check they're open, they have a sign outside too saying if they're serving if you drive past: 01271 890501,
