Run by a real (and we mean real) Sicilian! There is no menu and he conjures 7 courses each day for whcih you pay a fixed price. Drink from different wines and the waitress will casually estimate how much you drank at the end of the evening (usually less than what you actually drank). Recommended to book in advance.

The best spot in all of Richmond to have lunch when there's a bit of sun. The tea house and restaurant are located in old glasshouses of this fully functioning gardening nursery. A bit on the pricey end but you are paying for the location. Not much parking so take a cab or walk from the Richmond waterfront along the tow path

Best place for morning coffee on the river, under some magnificent trees and by the arches of Richmond Bridge. Not known for it's food, but coffee / tea and a soft drink do just fine.

Things to Do in Richmond

Richmond is a stunning part of learning, often overlooked by tourists but if you're staying out this way be sure to enjoy the area.
Bicycle hire - in Richmond we walk (or cycle) !! It's the London way and more so in Richmond, given it's beauty and vistas of the river along the tow path. Hire bikes from Blazing Saddles which is on the Richmond Waterfront. From here cycle up to Kew or even Mortlake (the Ship on the river is a good pub to get to), or going the other way cycle to Petersham, Richmond Park or even onto the Boater's Inn just before Richmond

The Versaille of England :) Not quite as impressive as Versaille, but definitely worth a visit if you're interested in the history of the monarchy. Train to Clapham Junction and back out, or take the boat ride from Richmond water front.

A huge and beautiful park, in London! The largest of the London parks and by far the most beautiful, given excellent walks with views of the City. Teeming with deer and bird life it makes for beautiful walks, any time of year. Be sure to check out Henry's Mound. Apparently by royal decree of Henry VIII there has to be line of sight from there to St Paul's cathedral. Parking can be very difficult on (warm) weekends, so get there early by car or walk / cycle or take a cab to one of the main gates.

More of an afternoon tea recommendation. Situated in Richmond Park there are stunning views back over the Thames Valley. Look out for Twickenham Rugby stadium over to your right.

More of a place to stop on your way back from Richmond Park for a swifty (a 'quick' beer). A short walk from Richmond Gate, sit on the benches overlooking the valley down from Richmond Hill. Continue down from there to the toe path and to your right for Richmond water front.

Not an attraction as such, but you will walk across this to go to Richmond from the house. Although, there are a couple of otters living in this area so look out for them sunning on the bridge footings! Once you cross over the bridge..... - Right to Richmond along the river. - Left takes you to Kew Gardens
