Knockma is a magical place to visit with it's newly improved walkways around a forested hill. The legendary home of Finvarra, King of the Faeries with the highest of the two cairns at the top of the hill said to be the burial ground of Queen Meadbh of Connacht. There are spectacular views in all directions. The wall is steep at times but safe and relatively short. Allow an hour.
At the entrance to the hill is the ruins of Castle Hackett while opposite is Castlehackett House, which has been restored and operates as a place to stay. it also hosts several local events.
