Food Scene
In sunny weekend weather, Park Chalet opens its wall of windows to a back lawn facing Golden Gate Park, creating a wonderful relaxed atmosphere for sampling craft beers and enjoying casual tasty brunch fare. In season, they grill oysters on the half shell outdoors--never thought I liked grilled oysters until I tried these with a pad of cilantro butter. I love to ride a bike or walk my dog here through the park trails--about 4 miles each way. Dogs welcome to sit with diners at outside tables.

Tiny restaurant, literally only four tables, and a couple small tables outside. Major foodie find. Exquisite wood-oven pizza, best in SF. Go for lunch or weeknights, go early. They do what they do better than anyone else, come in to appreciate it, not the spot to ask for substitutions or gluten free pizza :)

Beautiful, high-end French. Chef-owned, long-time Richmond District favorite, now located near 2nd Ave (the pretty part of Clement Street!) after many years near 15th Ave. Simple elegance. Chef doesn't miss.

Parks & Nature
Local park adjacent to The Presidio (now "Golden Gate National Recreation Area") Large dedicated off-leash dog park on the east end and fancy architect-created children's play area on west end. In between, sweeping lawns and the recently-restored lake. For a short walk, just follow the walking path that circles the park. Ask anyone how to access the "back road" to continue on longer walks/runs--north/east to Inspiration Point, through the beautiful woods of the former Presidio, or westward all the way to Ocean Beach.

Sightseeing
The must do beach walk of San Francisco. Joggers, cruiser cyclists, dogs, locals and tourists alike--all enjoying the stunning views of the bay and Golden Gate bridge. Dogs allowed off-leash in dedicated dog beach areas. Fun to watch the wind surfers in the afternoons on the bay. But less windy (warmer) in the mornings.
