This is THE BEST dining in San Juan Capistrano. Ramos House Cafe only serves breakfast and lunch, so plan accordingly. The food is delicious and the ambiance spectacular. Located in the Los Rios Historic District, along the tracks, the rustic atmosphere is creative and inventive. This is not a great place for kids, it's best for adults and only the very best behaved children. They also do not look kindly at cell-phone conversations on the premises. Leave the kids and the cell phones at home, walk down to Los Rios and enjoy the best San Juan has to offer. Saturdays and Sundays the menu is brunch only and there is often an hour or more wait. If you can go on a week day, you'll enjoy the a la carte menu and prices and possibly a shorter wait-time.

This Italian restaurant is one of our favorites. Pascuali is from Italy and has owned and run this restaurant since we moved here in 1995. The creme brulee here is our absolute favorite!

Cedar Creek has a lovely outdoor patio that is great for lunch dates. The Marcy salad is a favorite of mine. In the evenings, they are a nice spot for drinks and appetizers. The outdoor patio has a lovely fireplace.

Ruby's Diner is a fun, bright atmosphere for your burgers and fries and shakes. They have added an outdoor patio, called Sky Ranch which has an upgraded menu and fireplace and bar. This is a family-friendly place with a wide selection on their menu.

There is an upstairs bar/restaurant you can visit before or after the show. Check out their movies on Tuesday, they are only $6. The one exception is the VIP theater, the Tuesday price for this theater is not discounted.

Getting Around
Take Amtrak or Metrolink for a fun train ride. The ride south to San Clemente or Oceanside or Del Mar is a fun excursion. The tracks run quite close to the beach, so you can get a great view of the sun-bathers and surfers. We have taken the train to San Diego as well. Check Amtrak and Metrolink websites for times and costs. Or visit the booth down by the tracks, during the daylight hours.
