Cathedral State Park
Great place for hiking, uncrowded.
Take a float trip on the Cheat River Water Trail right in front of the house. You can float from above, down to River Watch or float below. Excellent family floating fun. Kayaks, Canoes, paddle baords are for rent loacally and can help set up your shuttle. Information in the House Rules Book.

Rowlesburg is the closest village to River Watch. It's an old town, built on the railroad, has a civil war history. It has a small grocery store, several restaurants and a couple of good bars. Check out The Riverview Lounge, just a 1/4 mile from the house for great wings and burgers. Also the Sidetracked Cafe is a good spot as is Neil & Bobs downtown. While your there check out the WWII museum.

This is a place wheere you feel you've stepped back into 1950. Cool Springs has about anything you'd ever look for back in the day. It has a restaurant with OK food. But thier milkshakes are to die for. Lots of space to check out all the stuff they sell. Everyone should vist once.

The Riverview Lounge is literally walking distance from River Watch. It's a classic old West Virgina loung/restaurant. They have music on most summer weekends. They have a large outside deck to look over the river. The food is good and its a good place to unwind.

Oakland MD is about 16 miles east of River Watch. It's a quaint mountain town with lots of shops and some really good restaurants . Not far from Deep Creek Lake.
