This is a homegrown Utah classic! Burgers, fries, and shakes like nowhere else. All their burgers are fantastic, and if you're looking for something a little lighter try the BLT (we like it on a bun and add avocado).

Good 'ole American food! The beer battered fries are some of the best around, and their burgers and sandwiches are also great. The Chicken Cobb Salad is another favorite here too. (I promise it's one of the best salads you've ever had at a burger joint!)

336 S Main StGood 'ole American food! The beer battered fries are some of the best around, and their burgers and sandwiches are also great. The Chicken Cobb Salad is another favorite here too. (I promise it's one of the best salads you've ever had at a burger joint!)
These guys are really unique and yummy. Be sure to order some of both the savory and sweet ones. There's not a lot of seating so they're a good option for pickup.

So yummy! Fantastic Indian food and a lovely atmosphere + there are now locations in both Highland AND American Fork (AF is busier). We eat here at least once or twice a month and have yet to find something we haven't enjoyed. Try the "Assorted Snacks" as an appetizer!

This one is a little bit of a drive and it is ALWAYS busy because it is SO good. (Seriously, the best time to go is like 3pm on a Thursday.) It's authentic, 100% fantastic Mexican food with a sit-down dining experience.

These guys have multiple locations (we usually go to the Orem one cause it's closer, but that's not the one in the pictures). We've heard from friends who spent time living in Vietnamese communities that this is the most authentic pho in Utah County, and we've never had a reason to doubt it! The vermicelli noodle plate is also fantastic!

This is the closest you'll find to East Coast style pizza within a decent drive. It's our favorite pizza spot around (though SLABpizza and Blaze Pizza are also good choices if you don't want to drive as far).

We love this place for their unique and diverse options. Plus you're supporting fun local businesses! The coconut cream is fantastic (be sure to ask about the available toppings), and there's always something for everyone -- even vegan and lactose and gluten free options.

Our talented neighbor down the street runs this out of her commercially certified kitchen. She doesn't have a store front (yet!) but you can take a quick walk down the street and browse the options in the mini fridge on her porch and then just send payment via the QR code. You won't regret it!

Outdoor Experiences
This is a great hike with a trailhead that's easily accessible. It's about 4.5 miles total (out and back) if you go all the way to the falls. Be aware that it's pretty much uphill the whole way up. On a scale of 1-10 it's probably about a 7 (our kids, ages 10 to 6 have done it so it's not crazy). There are also parts of the trail that get muddy and even spots where you're hiking through the stream. Totally worth it for the view though!

Horsetail Falls Trail
Horsetail Falls TrailThis is a great hike with a trailhead that's easily accessible. It's about 4.5 miles total (out and back) if you go all the way to the falls. Be aware that it's pretty much uphill the whole way up. On a scale of 1-10 it's probably about a 7 (our kids, ages 10 to 6 have done it so it's not crazy). There are also parts of the trail that get muddy and even spots where you're hiking through the stream. Totally worth it for the view though!

The hike up is steep and sunny, so bring lots of water and sunscreen, but the cave itself is about 45° all year round, so you'll want a jacket too. Totally worth it! ...and if you can't get tickets the hike is still a good one for awesome canyon views.

You can swim, kayak, or canoe on the reservoir (there are places where you can rent equipment in American Fork though you'll need to drive it up yourself), and there is a little beach for hanging out. There are also trails up here for hiking and biking.
During the summer and early fall this is an excellent way to experience the beauty of our Utah mountains! You'll drive "up and over" from American Fork Canyon to Provo Canyon. Hit Cascade Springs and Bridal Veil Falls on the way!

During the summer and early fall this is a great destination for an incredibly scenic canyon drive. You'll do part of the scenic Alpine Loop and then turn off to this little walking area among the bubbling springs where you can often see wildlife.

We love our aquarium!! It's really more of an indoor zoo with animals ranging from leopards and otters to penguins and sharks. There are 5 distinct biospheres to explore and they're working on expanding it too.
