Locals are experts at assessing whether the reservoir is full, and in conversation often link the weather with the reservoir (e.g. "This winter has been very rainy - the dam is nearly full now but was 20% full last month").

Getting Around
The train into Leon city makes for a pleasant attraction if you want an alternative to driving all the way. We don't recommend using just the train, as the station is far from the house, but the journey is very scenic and not expensive (€3.15 each way, April 2018), and takes around 1h20m. Departures are very spaced out, so check times before you travel (www.renfe.com/viajeros/feve/)

On the other hand, the restaurant of the museum serves some excellent food, somewhat more expensive than the local eateries but well worth it. Be prepared for a scenic drive up a very winding road!
