“I don't know the curator, but he/she must be quite a person as there are really good art shows put on here. The building next door, the Liebeskind building, is a must-see. The architecture is quite breath-taking and can make you feel manic, and i guess that's pretty much the architect's point!”

“The museum sits on the site that used to be the headquarters of the SS and the Gestapo. A free museum that is ub my view a must. During the summer months there is also an outside changing open exhibition.”

History Museum
“This panorama exhibition of the Berlin Wall is right next to Checkpoint Charlie and takes you back into the 1980's. From an elevated platform you will have an 180° - view of the wall from a west-side perspective. The imagery is underlined with a sound-scape and changing night/day shifts. It's a artistic master piece and I strongly recommend it - no other museum/exhibition in Berlin gives you a feeling of the atmosphere during times of separation as much as this one.”

“Solar is an easy walk from Potsdamer Platz. This is a bar where the bouncer's job is to make you feel welcome and safe. Since it's on the top floors of a large building, the views of Berlin are beautiful. Solar is two story, the first floor is a restaurant, the second a bar.”

“While Germany was divided, the Oberbaum bridge was a border crossing for pedestrians. Since the fall of the Berlin Wall, it now connects the two halves of the district of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. The bridge with its great view is a popular sight for taking pictures.”

“The famous crossing point is worth a visit even though nothing at the site is original. There are a few museums around. The better one is the Assisi Panorama.”

“A point of interest for anyone who wants to learn a little about Checkpoint Charlie. It is quite commercial but still a place to pass by when visiting Berlin for the first time, as not much from the wall of the checkpoint are left in the area. Further down you will see a checkpoint with some people dressed up as DDR and American soldiers, with whom you can take a picture for a fee. There is also a sign saying you are leaving/entering the Soviet/American sectors, which is always cute for those touristy photos everyone takes. Open every day from 9:00 to 22:00.”

Library
“For a selection of English books and media you can go a little further away, to Berlin's own American Memorial Library. You are free to enter and read a book without a library card - these are required only to rent the books. It is also a good spot to get some work done, as it is quiet. Open Mon - Sa, from 10:00 to 21:00.”
