Nestled on 5 acres, Pondicherri Village exudes a rustic village atmosphere where rest, relaxation and soul reset are considered high priorities. Its borrowed rural amenity and views are enabled as it is surrounded by much larger working farms creating a unique private oasis yet close to all the Barossa Valley offers. Some of the buildings are of historic interest at Pondicherri Village and date back to 1845. The Barn is one of those buildings
The Barn is a single room building constructed with thick stone walls and exposed internal timber beams. The building is aged well over 100 years. We are not sure of its original use. The Barn originally had the tiny window on the south side and one door many a year ago! For those that do book, look out for the circular patterns on the walls near the bed! Today, the Barn is furnished with a very comfortable super-sized king bed complete with crisp white sheets and natural fibre quality bed linens. In winter, you will keep toasty with the individual dual zoned and electric blankets. The bed is so huge, it is also perfect for travelling family members or good friends to share! You have access to a smart TV with Netflix, Stan and Chromecast to watch movies while you cozy up in bed and/or access the NBN fixed wireless network for all your modern communication needs. Or, should you need to work (and we hope you don’t), you can set yourself up on the drop leaf table or maybe, just stay in bed! An eclectic separate dressing area showcases a large gilded mirror, a vintage secretaire containing a hairdryer, umbrella alongside hanging racks with two white bathrobes, a stool, and a long bench to contain your luggage. Included is a fold-out ironing board and iron. A small kitchenette contains a kettle, microwave, toaster and fridge to ensure you have everything you need for a comfortable stay. There is no running water in the Barn, but we do provide a handmade 2-litre capacity ceramic water purifier system that removes virtually all contaminants including fluoride. The water purifier can be replenished with potable water from the Wash House with the stainless steel jug that are provided in the Barn. The north-facing deck is totally private and is a wonderful sunny spot to start your day. Later, you can sip your glass of Barossa wine with the occasional spotting of kangaroos in the paddocks. On a clear night, the Milky Way is stunning! Download a stargazing app and find the different constellations. Get your phone torch out and spotlight spider eyes that twinkle like diamonds in the paddocks. Buy some local yummy delicacies and your stay is very relaxing, peaceful and rejuvenating - especially for city folk - or so we are told by our guests! The lockable private shower room and separate toilet are a short walk from The Barn and are located in the Wash House that is semi-attached to the (circa 1845) historic original settlers building of mud/straw and stone. Take a step back in time and ‘walk the walk’ of the original Barossa settlers - but these wash facilities are modern-day! We grow a selection of organic herbs and vegetables. Just ask us what’s growing and we would be delighted to pick fresh produce for you to enjoy during your stay with us. In the warmer months, you will have access to a 12 x 3.5 metre swimming pool. It is a shared space enjoyed by us and all guests but mostly you will find you can enjoy the pool by yourself. It is what is on the inside that counts! We live on the property too and we are gradually upgrading the grounds but you will be very comfortable and importantly - very private. However, if you are older or maybe have the need for suburban indoor comforts and/or a frequent night toilet user- the Barn might not be for you! The Barn is a mix of old and new experiences. It shares the nuances of glamping but it’s neither a hotel room experience, a house nor an apartment! You can even leave the ‘dunny’ door open complete with a view! If you think you can enjoy this type of experience, we warmly welcome you to book with us at Pondicherri Village and The Barn.
We are only 5 minutes drive to the pretty historic village of Angaston that is well serviced with a varied selection of cafes, numerous restaurants ranging from great takeaways/dine in options to fine dining, 2 pubs, a florist, a supermarket, butcher, hardware, medical centre, post office, speciality Barossa food businesses and some retail therapy. We are 5 minutes drive from the famed Barossa Valley Farmers Market that is open every Saturday morning. There are many high-quality wineries, restaurants, food establishments and historic buildings to explore across the region. If food and wine are not your thing, there are numerous walking and cycling trails, some easy bushwalks including spotting kangaroos at Kaisersthul Conservation Park. Or you could go ballooning or a helicopter ride for the birds eye view! Just about everything except surfing! We are only one hour's drive to the nearest South Australian coastline, only one+half hour's drive into city of Adelaide and a one hour drive to the Adelaide Hills area. There is so much to do and explore in this beautiful part of Australia.

Tamu Barossa is a fully self contained guest house with a blend of classic and modern design set on our lush two-acre property a mere 3 minute drive from the quaint little town of Lyndoch, the gateway to the Barossa Valley. It is separate from our main house so you will have full privacy to enjoy our cosy guesthouse. The name ‘Tamu’ means ‘sweet’ in Swahili and ‘guest’ in Malay. A happy coincidence that pays homage to Kenya and Malaysia, where my husband and I originated from.
At Tamu you can relax on your private verandah and sip some local wine or enjoy a delectable cup of tea. Take a stroll and wander around our property. We have a variety of young fruit trees, herbs, flowers and there are a lot of established gum trees and cypress pine which attract a number of birds such as the Rainbow Lorikeet, Kookaburra and honeyeaters. You will also be able to meet the kangaroos that hop in and out of our property to graze. Our landscaping is a work in progress so please do bear with us. Our guesthouse can accommodate a maximum of 2 adults and 1 child. Tamu’s amenities include: - Split system heating and cooling units in the Bedroom and Living Room - Two king single beds that can be separated or put together to create one large king bed (please advise us of your preference). - We can provide a single foam mattress with linen and beddings that can be placed on the floor to be used by your child. - Portacot with mattress and linen, baby bathtub, changing mat, towel and highchair can be provided for a baby. - Wardrobe & dressing table - Fully equipped Kitchen (pots, pans, crockery, glassware, cutlery, teaware) - Kitchen appliances (fridge, oven, microwave, gas cooktop, toaster, Nespresso coffee machine) - Basic Kitchen supplies (olive oil, pepper, salt, sugar, foil, clingwrap) - Complimentary milk, muesli and coffee pods - Open plan Living Room, Kitchen and Dining - Flat screen TV - No Wifi available at this time unfortunately, but you can hotspot your mobile phone - Two seat dining table - Highchair can be provided upon request - Bathroom with toilet and shower - Undercover verandah with a two seat table - On site parking We will greet you in passing and always welcome a chat if you feel so inclined. However, our service philosophy is minimal intrusion. Let yourself in, make yourself at home and if you need anything more or have any difficulty please let us know. Check out what is happening and more photos by following our Instagram page @tamubarossa.
We are just a 13 minute drive to Tanunda the cosmopolitan heart of the Barossa with the best restaurants, entertainment and cellar doors. Muchas gracias Maz.

Perfect for one or two people, The Writer's Studio is fully self-contained. It has a really comfortable and firm inflatable queen bed. Away from the main house, it opens out onto a small orchard. This is a quiet oasis you can enjoy in between exploring all the Barossa has to offer. It has dining and sitting areas as well as a reading nook in the loft. It has a sofa which can open out for a child if necessary. Or we can set up another inflatable bed in the loft, accessed by a loft ladder.
The Writer's Studio is great for singles or couples. I originally called it, The Shed, as it was once a hay shed with three walls and a grass floor. It morphed into The Writer's Studio after various friends asked to use it as their retreat to spend time quietly catching up on writing projects. Wineries abound, as do eating opportunities, ranging from the award winning Appellation at The Louise and fermentAsian (consistently names in the Top 100), to Vintners, Harvest Kitchen, 1918, St Hugo’s and Maggie Beer's Farm. There is also a huge selection of light meal options offered by most of the wineries.
There is a vineyard and winery cellar door directly the house. It is a short, two block walk to the main street, supermarket, bakery, coffee shops, restaurants, Information Centre and bicycle hire.

A Barn in the Barossa is a beautiful 2 storey picture book stone home architecturally renovated to celebrate natural materials of wood & stone. It was previously home to artist Jacqueline Coates and has been featured by Qantas and national magazines

Our cottage is hidden away in Tanunda in the heart of the Barossa Valley. It's little - just one cosy bedroom - but in a very handy location just up the road from iconic Tanunda wineries. It has a private garden and undercover off-street parking.
Our cottage is unique because it look old and rustic on the outside but inside it has a modern kitchenette and bathroom, separate lounge with two sofas, cosy furnishings and cable TV. All linen is provided. It is hidden from the road at the back of a half acre block, with vineyards just over the back fence and local wineries in walking distance. Surprisingly its also close to the main street on the edge of the township, and just a 5 minute drive to the town centre. It also has a private garden to relax in which is fully fenced. People like our cottage because it feels like a home away from home.
We are on the edge of town in a residential street that feels more rural than township. Houses are on one side, and wineries and few homes on large allotments are on the other side. We are on the winery side!

Our Barossa holiday retreat 'The Acre' is a mere 2 minute drive (or 15 minute walk) from the town centre of the Barossa's quintessential heartbeat, Tanunda. Newly renovated from the ground up 'The Acre' is a purpose-built holiday retreat. We've taken every care to address all the creature comforts a weary traveller could need, for rest and relaxation... to get back out there and enjoy every last drop Australia's world-renowned wine region has to offer.
The dwelling sits on an acre block of land, hence the name. As our guests, you will have exclusive access to the first quarter of the block, encapsulated by fencing which provides a compound around the house to allow both you, and our neighbours each their own privacy. The house sleeps 6 guests across 3 bedrooms. The recent renovation has seen the interior of the house, and the backyard revitalised in their entirety. The bathroom includes a free-standing bathtub and seperate shower alcove with rainmaker shower head. Full laundry facilities are provided including a large washing machine and seperate dryer, with the option to hang clothes outside on a fold down clothesline. An ironing board and iron are supplied. A seperate room has been set up as a permanent Study with desk, chair and widescreen monitor for those who require a dedicated workspace. High-speed NBN is provided wirelessly and reception reaches all areas of the retreat's compound. The study also doubles as a additional space for the kids to watch TV, a DVD or play the PlayStation. If you want to be close to everything, Bridget's House is within 2 minutes walk of the main street of the Tanunda in the heart of the Barossa Valley. It's an easy walk to our favourite restaurants, beautiful retail stores, pubs and main town facilities. Supermarket, Pharmacy close-by. Everything you need is at the end of the street and the price includes up to 4 guests! No extra $ for more people, no chintz or friezes, just a stylish sunny home (and best of all, no cabs required).
Bridgets House is a 1950's brick home on the outside, with lashings of love and contemporary styling on the inside. It's a great space to spend some time either sitting around the old butchers block over a cup of tea in the kitchen or relaxing on the deck which looks over a dwarf organic fruit orchard (which you're welcome to help yourself to). A main bedroom at the front of the house is available as well as a smaller double bedroom off the living space. The bathroom isn't display-home beautiful but its completely functional. Most importantly, Bridget's House is eco, where-ever possible there is use of non-toxic cleaning, washing and environmental products. Every effort is made to minimise the impact of our lives on the environment and you and your family and friends know that there is no chemical interference while you are staying, either in the house or in the garden, which is organic.
Tanunda is the heart of the Barossa Valley and home to the best retail experiences and some great restaurants and coffee shops. It's literally all at the end of the street. The Barossa is famous for its wine, delicious regional produce, evocative dining experiences and beautiful scenery. You can choose to go out during the day to visit wineries and places of interest and during the evening everything is at your fingertips.

In the heart of the Barossa, and within a short stroll of beautiful Angaston, you will find The Smiths Cottage - your perfect home away from home and a great base from which to explore the best of the Barossa. Come home from a day in the valley to your own cottage where you can put your feet up, pour (another) wine and take in the ambience. The property consists of a contemporary & spacious two bedroom cottage that sleeps 4 - and a glamping tent that can be booked additionally to sleep 2 more.
The stunning glamping tent in the garden is fully decked out with a king size bed and plenty of area to lounge and relax after a day in the valley. If you would like to include the tent in your booking then you must book for 5 or 6 people. If you are booking for 4 or less people then the tent will not be included automatically. If you would like to use the tent - regardless of the number of guests - just pop 5 people in the booking details and it will be made up and ready to go on your arrival. An additional charge of $50 per person applies.
There are plenty of great places to explore in the Barossa and you will find a list of my favourite places on the bench when you arrive. But if you are only here for a short time - and you want to experience the best that the Barossa has to offer, then I suggest that you pre book a couple of exceptional experiences. Vintners Restaurant - an outside table for lunch on a weekend is perfection , Casa Carboni - so special it is only open for dinner on Fridays... or you can book in for a cooking school and double up the experience with a new skill!

Unique, historic accommodation in the Barossa high country with a strong emphasis on an authentic food and wine experience. Breakfasts are home cooked, generous and included in the tariff.. Dinners, including carefully matched wines, are easily arranged for an extra price. Expect fresh, seasonal, innovative dishes and excellent local wines in a beautiful and relaxing rural setting. Heaven in the hills.
Pennys is an original Barossa German farm, built back in the late 1800s by the Graetz Family, who then lived there for the next one hundred years. The original bluestone farmhouse is separated from a series of three side by side rooms, also bluestone, by a big, open courtyard. These three rooms that make up the guest quarters. They consist of the original German kitchen, the bedroom and a bathroom. The three rooms were the original work rooms of the farm and had fallen into disrepair by the time I purchased the farm in 2002. They have now been restored to a level which ensures guest comfort but remains true to their original spirit. The rooms are linked by the same roof line and a long connecting verandah. There are no internal doors, so moving between rooms involves stepping out onto the verandah; a good chance to breathe the very fresh and clean air that we have at Pennys! The old kitchen was where the bread was baked, (the original baker's oven is still intact) and all the food for the farming family was prepared. The food was then taken across and served in the main farmhouse. This system remained in place for over one hundred years. Now the old kitchen is a living area for our guests, with a generous library of books, games and dvds plus the mod cons of a smart tv and wifi. The kitchenette in this room allows for some basic food preparation but is by no means a full working kitchen. There is a small portable oven, a microwave, a fridge/freezer a kettle, a toaster and just outside the door in the courtyard is a WeberQ for guests to use. There are full facilities for making tea and coffee with an extensive range of loose leaf tea and good quality coffee provided and always milk, drinks, fruit and homemade baked goods. There is a good supply of crockery, cutlery and other kitchen essentials as well. A freestanding kitchen sink allows for easy washing up, with all the water provided through an urn attached to the sink. There is no plumbing in this room; there never was and I want to keep things as original as possible although without compromising the comfort of my guests. The bedroom is simple and very comfortable. It is perched above the farm's cellar and was originally used for food storage. When I first bought the property, it was full of old bee hives! The leather straps that rods were passed though to hang food are still there, fastened to the baltic pine roof. Outside the bedroom window is an old walnut tree and the dappled light that comes in through this window is quite lovely. Crisp cotton sheets, doonas and pure wool blankets ensure the beech-wood queen sized bed is super comfy. A simple, peaceful room for maximum cosiness and restful sleeping. The bathroom was originally the laundry and also where the young Graetz boys slept. This is the room that has been changed the most. The original dirt floor has been replaced by slate tiles and large plaster panels, handmade locally using old pressed metal ceiling iron as moulds, line the walls. An antique Edwardian dressing table now has the job of being the vanity unit and there is an antique red velvet chaise lounge for reclining on. The bath is an enormous, very old claw foot affair with the shower over it. The toiletries are natural, handcrafted and luxurious. A Danish wood heater stands in the corner and does a beautiful job of heating up the space in the cold weather. Full sized french doors open up onto a private guest courtyard. The courtyard is sheltered, private, faces east and is perfect for morning yoga sessions and breakfast when the weather is good. The larger courtyard that separates the guest accommodation from the main farmhouse has a raised, covered area for alfresco dining and living. There are two ponds in the courtyard; one for fish and one for frogs. Guest have full access to this area as well and this is the place where most of the wonderful conversation my family and I have with the guests. Surrounding the buildings is farm country. On the property, a small flock of geese and two resident goats do their thing. Across the road, cattle graze among the giant old gum trees, often sharing their pasture with the local kangaroos. Next to the cows can always be found the sheep. Listen to the ewes and their lambs calling out to each other during lambing season, (June/July). The bird life is rich and varied, from colourful parrots to rainbow bee eaters in the summer and in autumn, the cockatoos come in to eat the walnuts from the big old tree outside the guest bedroom. There is a strong focus on food at Pennys. Delicious, innovative dishes made from fresh, sustainable, local ingredients, often grown on the property, are an important part of the experience. Breakfast is a given and by prior arrangement, for an extra cost, picnic baskets can be supplied and fully catered in-house dinners, by prior arrangement, happen frequently. All food requirements are happily catered for. Pennys is rural; a car is necessary, but the attractions of the Barossa are close by. The famous Henschke Winery is a short ten minutes drive away. Head over there for some wine tasting and be prepared to be thoroughly spoiled by the staff at cellar door. Even closer is Brockenchack Wines. Here you can usually find Trevor, the owner of the winery, manning his cellar door on the weekends. Ask him about the red light on the front verandah; it is a good story! The lovely little town of Eden Valley is about 10 minutes drive south. Its old pub is delightful and Eden Valley's scenic lookout will take your breath away. A 15 minute drive west will see you in Angaston and the start of the amazing array of wineries, cafes, bakeries, butchers and restaurants that the Barossa is so famous for. Old, quirky, wild yet civilised, peaceful and natural are all words to describe Pennys Road. My friends, family and I love this little farm and I hope that you will too.
