Detached house tucked away down a country lane with lovely views over local countryside. Four bedrooms, a large lounge with south facing windows and private rear garden. Parking for two cars on the driveway and patio for BBQ's or a quiet G&T. Fitted kitchen, dining room, utility room with storage for bikes. Bathroom with bath and shower and downstairs w/c. Well located for Matlock, Bakewell, Chatsworth House and local towns. Derby is 20 minutes drive and there is a bus route close to the house.
Snowdrop Valley is a quiet unmade country lane, only serving a handful of properties. It is also only 5 minutes walk from the village centre, where you will find a mini-market, cafe, bakery, restaurant, post office and hairdresser / beauty salon. There are also a couple of pubs and churches within the village as well as a medical centre and The Glebe community centre with a variety of activities going on. There are lovely country walks with footpaths starting just 100 yards from the house and as Crich is set on top of a hill, there are nice views of the the area from many places in and around the house and village.

Our house is situated on the edge of Wirksworth in Millers Green, its 15 – 20 minute stroll into the centre of town either over the fields along a well-defined footpath or along the road and walking distance to Haarlem Mill. It is in a private cul-de- sac of just four houses so does not suffer from any traffic noise.
The guest bedroom which has one double bed is an excellent size with wonderful views of the rolling Derbyshire countryside. There is a wardrobe and drawers available for you to use, there is also tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The separate modern bathroom is for your private use, it has an electric shower, washbasin, toilet and bath. Our conservatory is lovely place to sit and watch the sun go down over the hills in the summer. Our garden is very colourful during the summer months and is constantly evolving, and provides another lovely place to sit and relax - bring your own wine and use our outdoor furniture for a ‘chill out’ evening. We will provide a simple breakfast suitable for vegetarians of juice, cereals, toast, fruit and yogurt along with preserves (homemade where possible), please let us know any other dietary requirements. You can also use our kitchen for the preparation and cooking of evening meals (by arrangement so were not falling over ourselves). If you wanted to eat in from the local take outs or have a simple supper or lunch of cheese, bread and wine etc. (there is a bakery & Co-Op in the center of Wirksworth which offer delightful treats) then we’ll make crockery, cutlery, glasses and space available for your use.
Wirksworth is a fairly unique and historic town full of odd nooks and crannies and the ancient and fascinating church of St Mary nestles in its small cathedral-like precinct in the centre. It has many independent shops and coffee / tea establishments. There are a number of fine pubs, some serving meals. There is also a splendid French style bistro (La Minstrel) which opens daily - advanced bookings are recommended for weekends. A little further afield many of the surrounding villages also offer additional fine dining. Wirksworth has a fuel filling station and a large Co-Op. Wirksworth also has its own heritage railway (The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway) who operate passenger services on the line between Wirksworth and Duffield mainly using heritage diesel railcars and occasionally steam locomotives. The town has well-dressings during Whitson week, and every September there is the unusual ceremony of 'Clypping', in which the church is encircled by the congregation holding hands around it. Wirksworth has the well-known Arts Festival, which happens over a September weekend. The Festival includes all forms of Art, with the Market Square the centre for music, dance and street acts while many of the houses around the village play host to many different forms of artistic expression. Tours and tour maps can be bought in the local shops during the festival. Being on the edge of the Peak District National Park and the White Peak there are many fine walks available to suit all abilities and a number can be done from our front door. Carsington Reservoir circular track is within a 30 minute walk of our home as is the traffic free High Peak trail which is suitable for walking and cycling (cycle hire is available locally). Famous Dovedale with its ‘stepping stones’ is only a short drive away. For the more energetic the gritstone edges and wild moors of the Dark Peak are only a 50 minute drive away. The historic town of Bakewell, the stately homes of Haddon Hall, Chatsworth House and Kedleston Hall are all within 30 minutes by car. Matlock and Matlock Bath with its cable car to the Heights of Abraham a short 10 minute drive. The National Stone Centre, Derbyshire Eco Centre and the Mount Cook Adventure Centre also have their homes in Wirksworth. We are also with easy reach of a number of local wedding venues including Haarlem Mill (10 min walking distance), Shottle Hall and Alison House among others.

The accommodation comprises two circa 18c cottages with many original features a short distance from the centre of the picturesque village of Crich with all the key amenities you might need. The cottage looks onto a cottage garden with off the road parking, seating and BBQ.
Crich is an historic village famous for it community activities and the tram museum. The cottage is close to the village centre and all essetial amenities. This 4 room property has additional toilets on the first floor and toilet and shower room on the ground floor. As you can see from the pictures it has many historic features and the under floor heating very effectively keeps it warm complimented by the glow of the log burner. The South facing aspect onto the cottage garden provides a great place to relax in the sun and BBQ on a summers evening.
The village community is great and although small has retained its heart with a wide range of amenities. These include a butcher and a great baker (the loaf), but I must admit the candle stick maker has had to close! There is also a wide range of places to eat out. A short walk from the cottage takes you to views over the Derwent valley world heritage site and many walk options including the Cromford canal which you can also cycle through to the historic Arkwright mills and the tourist scene of Matlock Bath.

Hogar a hogar.

A cosy, quirky 17th/19th century cottage with simple charm. Small, stone, single storey one bed dwelling that used to be the village shop. Log burner in the spacious lounge. A kitchen with everything you need and it's own secret garden with views of Riber castle which can be seen whilst sitting in the rustic garden room. Ideally located for exploring the Peak District National park and the beautiful Derbyshire Dales. Matlock 2.5 miles away with pubs, supermarket, restaurants, shops etc.
The cottage will be at your complete disposal, from the photos you can see there is a spacious lounge, a compact but fully working kitchen with all the utensils you require, if the weather is bad you could build a log fire and bake a cake! A spacious double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with a large walk in shower. Included in the price is bedding, linen and towels, tea, coffee and sugar. There is a log burner but you need to bring your own logs. First fire made up. Parking is on the road outside the cottage or just down the hill in the village square. From the garden a gate opens onto to the public footpath that takes you down to Wensley Dale, a very beautiful area with rare breed sheep wandering around and wild flowers everywhere. From here you could walk into Snitterton or climb Oaker Hill the views are stunning!
Thank you for looking at Needham Cottage, Wensley. A pretty stone village which was once a thriving lead miners community. The garden can be reached via the ginnel, ie turn left from the back door, keep walking until you see the gate with Number Three on it, that is us. Here you can enjoy the view and see Riber Castle in the distance. Togetherwith the unusual upcycled garden room, table and chairs. A public footpath passes the garden gate and this leads you down into Wensley Dale, not the Wensleydale where the cheese comes from but our own dale of outstanding natural beauty. The Area The Derbyshire Dales is a place of wooded valleys, with an occasional steam train chugging through, passing sparkling rivers with their ancient stone bridges and rolling green hills sprinkled with picturesque villages with their unique shops, cosy pubs and cobbled yards. Don't miss the Barley Mow at Bonsal or Wirksworth. There is plenty to do and see from arts and crafts festivals, pop festivals, antiques shops and fairs, markets, historic houses like Chatsworth and medieval Haddon Hall. Set in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside in the village of Crich, this cosy 200 year old cottage, with its 2 up 2 down design, is an ideal base for walking, climbing, cycling, exploring and sightseeing, or simply getting away from it all.
The cottage is around 200 years old and is adjacent to the owners’ own cottage. The cosy cottage, a 2 up 2 down designed for 1 or 2 persons has been modernised to a high standard and is centrally heated throughout. It is in a very quiet location but only 50 yards from the village market place with many local amenities including pubs serving food, a post office, and an artisan bakery, cafe and deli, called 'the loaf' which we used to own. It’s quirky in that the living room and kitchen are upstairs whilst the bedroom and recently modernised bathroom (new shower December 2019) are on the ground floor. This is to make the best of the view towards the nearby village of Fritchley. The living room is furnished with a sofa, a table and chairs, a TV/DVD, a Radio/CD player and has a feature fireplace. There is a selection of games, books, DVDs and tourist literature provided. The kitchen has a gas cooker and fridge with freezer compartment. A microwave is available on request which is put on the dining table due to the compact nature of the kitchen. There is a queen size double bed with storage drawers, wardrobe and chest of drawers. The bathroom has a self contained shower, sink and loo.
With easy access to the Derbyshire Dales and the Peak District it is the perfect base for a holiday. The village itself is home to the famous Crich Tramway Village and was used as the location for the TV series “Peak Practice”.

A couple of miles away at Carsington Water there are water sports and cycle hire. Cromford nestles in the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site and is home to the Arkwright Museum. There is a shopping outlet at Masson Mill and at Arkwright’s Mill there are numerous craft, gift and antique outlets as well as the working mills showing how the textiles were produced years ago. Heritage enthusiasts will enjoy the steam railways in nearby Wirksworth and Matlock whilst there is a Tramway Museum in nearby Crich. In Middleton itself is the Steeple Grange Light Railway and, situated on the High Peak Trail, Middleton Top Engine House is a preserved steam engine formerly used to haul trains up the 700-yard long 1-in-8 gradient of Middleton Incline. While living at Mountain Cottage in Middleton during the bitter winter of 1918-19, D.H. Lawrence wrote the short story A Wintry Peacock (published in 1921), which is set in the immediate locality. Black Rocks are a a gritstone out crop a short walk away and there are a number of limestone crags that leave climbers spoilt for choice. A short drive away you will find stately homes and gardens such as Chatsworth House, Hardwick hall and Haddon Hall to name but a few. The market town of Wirksworth is a mile away with good shops and eateries and Middleton itself has 2 pubs both about 500 yards away.

Open living/kitchen/diner with vaulted ceiling and luxury wood burning stove. Flooded with light from skylight, double height window and quirky stable door. Comfortable double bedroom. Secluded and peaceful location near charming limestone Derbyshire dales village of Kirk Ireton in farm complex. Long reaching views from garden down picturesque valley. Relaxing haven with trees rustling outside; resident owls, swallows and bats. Close to Carsington Water and easy access to Peaks.
Covered porch entrance (with nesting swallows) down two steps into entrance hall with same floor access to living room, bedroom and bathroom. Open plan living room. This is a bright airy room with brand new HETAS registered wood burning stove (starter fuel pack provided during colder weather), bed settee (bed linen provided on request) kitchen units, double fan oven, 4 ring hob, microwave and fridge. Oak dining table and 3 chairs (high chair available on request) near stable door (second entrance to holiday let without steps from parking area). TV and DVD player. WiFi available but unreliable! The rural network is poor at times. Limited mobile network too I’m afraid. Spacious and comfortable double bedroom. Bed linen and towels provided. Child’s cot available on request. Bathroom with electric shower over bath, toilet and washbasin. Outside: a rustic bench on the doorstep to soak up the morning sun with a morning coffee. Ample private parking in farmyard in front of barns. Mature trees including silver birch providing natural shade. Small table and chairs positioned for a drink with a view. The green cushions are for outdoor use so please feel free to take these outside during your stay. Swallows, owls and more regular garden birds spotted and heard daily. There are a pair of buzzards who cross the drive and nest in the neighbouring woodland. We also have bats living in our conservatory roof so these can be seen easily at dusk swooping around. Ducks and a heron visit main farm house pond on occasion too.
We moved to derbyshire 4 years ago and couldn’t believe our luck when we found Alton Nether Farm. A real slice of paradise. Away from bustling crowds and surrounded by beautiful countryside. If you like walking, cycling, sailing, rock climbing, bird watching or simply relaxing this is the place for you! Kirk Ireton is a charming limestone village nestling in the hills above Wirksworth and a lovely walk down to Carsington Water. The idyllic rural village has an extremely well stocked community shop and a traditional gabled inn the Barley Mow. Wirksworth itself is a gem of a town with a traditional market, a surprising selection of good quality restaurants and even an independent cinema; somewhere you can forget the rigours of modern life. Carsington Water offers bike hire, kayaking, sailing and nature reserves to mention a few of the many leisure facilities available. Also nearby is the historic Cromford with Arkwright’s Mills, the Tissington Trail, Alport Heights and of course the beautiful peaks just a short drive away. Our favourite places to eat out are The Cock Inn in Muggington, just 10 minutes drive or a little slice of France at Le Mistral in Wirksworth. Everything you need for a wonderful holiday whether for a short romantic break or a full week.

My house is just a short stroll into the great little town of Wirksworth where so many things happen.... good pubs, Italian and French food, lanes to explore, 52 seater cinema, not to mention Farmers' markets and the famous Festival in September. Come and see!
The double room is small but with use of your own shower room and toilet, good rates for single people (£30) as well. I will provide cereals and toast for a simple breakfast or you can get something more elaborate in town. Good coffee shops and cafes. There is the indoor space and outdoor space to enjoy as well. I'm happy to offer advice and suggestions if you need any help.
People who visit Wirksworth very often want to move here. It is unique and catches the imagination offering a rural setting with good access to great facilities. The sense of friendly community is often remarked upon. Like cycling? There are plenty of great routes from the doorstep for roadies and mountain bikers. Visit Carsington Reservoir, National Trust properties + Chatsworth, the famous Bakewell Market and pudding shop, nearby Ashbourne plus walks and trails galore.

A lovely, traditional little terraced cottage located high above Matlock Bath, with stunning views over the Derbyshire countryside. Pretty, comfortable and sympathetically furnished throughout, this Matlock Bath cottage is ideal for a small family or group of friends to enjoy the delights of this beautiful part of the Peak District.
Despite being only a few minutes from the centre of Matlock Bath, the cottage is on a tranquil terrace high above the bustle. It's warm in winter and cool in the summer. Despite being new to Airbnb, we have been letting this property to great reviews for over four years.
The immediate neighbourhood is quiet, but Matlock Bath is full of restaurants, cafes and bars. There are lots of things to do including taking the cable car up to the Heights of Abraham or walking along the river and canal or up in the hills. There are many other towns and villages close by such as Bakewell and Cromford.

Spring Cottage is tucked away in a beautiful, rural part of the Derbyshire Dales. The views are special and guests are welcome to sit in and walk around the garden. There are fabulous circular walks, from our door, varying from 30 mins - all day. We (Ali and John) work in agriculture, have a small menagerie and have many countryside interests. We will be pleased to chat with guests or to give privacy. We can collect guests from nearby stations and assist in other ways by prior arrangement.
The old part of Spring Cottage dates from the 18th Century. In addition to the bedroom and adjacent shower room (in the old bit), guests can use our large sitting room (new bit) as their breakfast room and somewhere to sit and relax. There is a book exchange, games and a log burner which we are happy to light on cooler evenings. There is also a mini fridge, which will be stocked with milk, bread, water (from our own spring supply) and other DIY breakfast foods, as arranged prior to your stay. As well as hot drink and toast making facilities in this room, there is a hospitality tray in the bedroom. For warmer weather there is a sitting out area and our guests will always be welcome in the garden and to walk around our small area of woodland; especially if you bring your gardening gloves! There is parking right outside the cottage. If staying with us in Spring there will be a few lambs to see in addition to our poultry, cat and two dogs.
The view from our garden across the Derwent Valley to Crich Stand, the Sherwood Foresters memorial, is fabulous. All of the cottage windows look out onto the garden, fields and woodlands. It is a lovely location within the Derbyshire Dales. Just 5 minutes in the car (or a 30-40 mins walk over the fields) gets you to The Family Tree, a great place to have a cooked breakfast, lunch or tea and cake. The character-filled small market town of Wirksworth is within 10 minutes drive. Belper (High Street of the Year 2020), Matlock, Matlock Bath, Ashbourne and Bakewell are also within easy reach for eating out, nice shopping, antiques and local history museums. Crich Tramway Museum and the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Sites are close by and Derbyshire offers a wealth of fabulous landscapes and beautiful gardens.
