“The most interesting site in terms of the Berlin Wall. An original part of the wall including some parts of the no-mans land are preserved there. There are many information boards spread around the area. Somer of the famous tunnels below the Berlin Wall were dug there. There is also a museum there. ”

“I don't know the curator, but he/she must be quite a person as there are really good art shows put on here. The building next door, the Liebeskind building, is a must-see. The architecture is quite breath-taking and can make you feel manic, and i guess that's pretty much the architect's point!”

“A lot of what the world knows about Germany revolves around the II World War, but Germany and the germanic lands that it comprised during its many phases in History have a lot more to teach us. Visit the entrance hall, enjoy the stairs and discover surprising views. The modern extension of the museum is by IM Pei.”

“There is hardly any corner in Berlin from which you cannot see the striking television tower on Alexanderplatz (some say the the DDR solider used the tower for watching its citizens). The tower ball of the tallest building in Germany offers a wide panoramic view.”

Restaurante
“Solar is an easy walk from Potsdamer Platz. This is a bar where the bouncer's job is to make you feel welcome and safe. Since it's on the top floors of a large building, the views of Berlin are beautiful. Solar is two story, the first floor is a restaurant, the second a bar.”

“ If you are in Berlin, one of my highlights is the German Reichstag. The visit there can be combined with a breakfast or lunch in the Käfer restaurant. However, you have to book in advance. It is worth it!”

“A point of interest for anyone who wants to learn a little about Checkpoint Charlie. It is quite commercial but still a place to pass by when visiting Berlin for the first time, as not much from the wall of the checkpoint are left in the area. Further down you will see a checkpoint with some people dressed up as DDR and American soldiers, with whom you can take a picture for a fee. There is also a sign saying you are leaving/entering the Soviet/American sectors, which is always cute for those touristy photos everyone takes. Open every day from 9:00 to 22:00.”

Library
“For a selection of English books and media you can go a little further away, to Berlin's own American Memorial Library. You are free to enter and read a book without a library card - these are required only to rent the books. It is also a good spot to get some work done, as it is quiet. Open Mon - Sa, from 10:00 to 21:00.”
